September is Alopecia Areata Awareness month, and the folks at the National Alopecia Areata Foundation have once again put together several local events happening in your area. We have the list of cities and dates you need to attend and show your support…Simply put, the National Alopecia Areata foundation is the most active organization in the world of hair loss. They have lobbyists who have set up shop in Washington DC, bringing the need for research and treatment to our government officials on a regular basis. They raise hundreds of thousands of dollars, and help organize and fund scientists efforts in new research and technologies to help find new treatments for this condition.
This year, in celebration of Alopecia Areata Awareness Month, the NAAF has put together several events throughout the country for fun, fellowship, and support. There aren’t many hair loss support groups organized throughout the United States, so we encourage you as a hair loss sufferer to show up and show your support if you can possibly do so. Keep in mind that every penny counts, and research done on Alopecia Areata may eventually lead to discoveries which may unlock the causes of even the most common forms of hair loss, not just Alopecia Areata.
If you live in any of the following cities, we encourage you to attend:
In an effort to get everyone involved in Alopecia Areata Awareness Month, September 2002, we will be listing the contact information and details of events that are being planned around the country. Last year, over $85,000.00 was raised by Support Groups, families, children and community members during awareness month, and with proper planning, this total can be topped. Please check this link periodically to see if something is going on in your area, or to get ideas on what you could do locally to make an international difference. If you are planning something that is not listed, or would like ideas on how to get something started, please contact Lisa Gallagher at the NAAF office.
