Kyocera, Riken and Organ Technologies have partnered together to bring forward a treatment that will focus on the collection of stem cells from the patient own hair follicles.
A small number of hair follicles will be collected from the back of the head, from which stem cells will be isolated, and then multiplied.
These stem cells will be combined in a 3D environment to form a so-called hair follicle “primordium”. This can then be packaged and delivered to a medical facility to be transplanted on the patient’s scalp.
