Would A Hair Transplant Be A Good Idea For Me?

Hi Hairloss family, I have finally come to realization that a hair transplanet may be my best option - so I have decided to go the hair transplant route. My only concern is I am kind of a diffuse thinner and not sure if a hair transplant would make sense.

I would love to hear some of your insights.

Thanks!

Depends on if you're on treatments (at least an antiandrogen) and how you respond to them. No point transplanting hair if you're going to lose the hair in between and around the transplanted hairs, it'll look weird. Also you risk shock loss of existing hair etc.

You seem to be a reasonable candidate. If I were you I would get 2-3 consultations and see what surgeons say.

If you aren't on medication it will keep getting worse. Right now for the the front and crown you need 5000 grafts.

I reached out to doctors in Turkey and Belgium and both of them consider me a good candidate - however I reached out to a Dr. Rahal in Toronto and he doesn't consider me a good candidate.

I agree completely with you and that is why I ask the question - I am worried about future hairloss. Currently, I only use Minodoxil and shower with a ketoconazole/dht inhibitor shower every day. Not a fan of finn due to the side effects.

That is pretty much what I was quoted by Dr. Hakkan - 4500 grafts. What I am worried about and it is exactly what many of you hinted at is the fact that I am not on any medication is there even a point of getting this procedure done. I do feel however that I have some pretty strong donor hair supply. I don't keep my hair like in the first picture I comb it down and usually keep the sides and top very low

Keto arguably does nothing noticeable for hair loss (I use keto and like it, been using it since before my male pattern baldness kicked in hard, just not for the purpose of hairloss). Minoxidil is nice if you're a good responder but even if you are minoxidil doesn't treat the root cause of male pattern baldness. What ingredients are in the shampoo you're using?

finasteride will most likely not give you sides, but if you still insist against finasteride I'd look into RU58841 or CB0301

The ingredients in the shampoo are nothing potent or worthy of me mentioning - PURA D'OR Anti-Hair Loss Premium Organic Argan Oil Shampoo.

Maybe I should look into ru - so given the fact that I am not taking any antiantrodgens, do you think the hair transplant route is not a viable option for me?

I'd trust Rahal's word and say it's probably not a good choice at the moment, try seeing how you respond to treatments first then go for the transplant imo

I was surprised Rahal said that and he based it off of my pictures only. *********, Erdogan (Turkey) and Reyes (Belgium) all on the other hand said I was a good candidate.

I hate to say it but from the photo your donor supply is not very good, at least on the back. There is a very narrow strip of good donor area, and that is why one doctor says you aren't a good candidate. If you were stabilized on finasteride then yes it would be good to do this. If you haven't tried it you can cut pills into 1/4 size and start with a small dose to see how you react. Some people feel little while others get heavy side effects. There is no way to guess, but you don't look overweight so it may not be that bad for you.

You can get blood tests to see what your DHT level is as well. That is why you lose hair.

I think you are at the same tipping point I was. I went on finasteride and have had two hair transplant's and look way better. I did have moderate to heavy side effects but stayed on it and eventually they subsided.

Hey Pequod, I was wondering what if I went with a smaller hair transplant (less grafts), followed by SMP or tricopigmentation. I don't mind the buzzed look, I just really want my temples filled in to frame my face. What do you think of that plan?

All a question of age ;D

How old are you?

That's quite aggressive hair loss for someone who is only 27. You can clearly see it will progress to at least NW6.
Make sure you don't lower your hairline too aggressively. An NW3 hairline would be safe but you'll probably want an NW2.
Definitely get on finasteride and minoxidil for a year first, then decide whether your hairline or crown is your priority. If they are equal priorities then perhaps buzzing your hair short and a hair transplant could give a nice result. Even better if you add scalp micropigmentation.
Your response to medication will be very important, and the deciding factor in how you approach a hair transplant.

Well there was some kid who posted on here a few months back who was NW3+ at 15. He hasn't returned, not sure if it was true or a nasty joke, but damn that was heartbreaking...
