Hey all, it's been a while!
If any of you have been following my posts this last 12 months you'll know what's been going on.. for those that dont I'll give you a quick summary.
I started RU sometime early last year after noticing my results which lasted a solid 5 years were slowly being eroded away.. this actually worked after a few months of 1x daily application of RU 5% and my hairline was becoming strong again!
Then.. I got greedy and decided to throw 0.5mg of dutasteride a few times a week in despite having the opposite effect from finasteride ( reflex hyperandrogenicity )
Needless to say the exact same thing happened but worse, my RU gains quickly disappeared and my hairline was becoming more and more like NW3 every week.. I stayed on dutasteride (and everything else) for around 6 months and didnt see any regrowth at all.. only more thinning..
Then I decided to go against the grain of any hair loss advice, I stopped EVERYTHING. All at once.. I lost a tremendous amount of hair all diffusely over my scalp, I was losing like 500 hairs a day at least so much I stopped counting. For 5 months i was on zero medication (except my antidepressants) and despite losing so much hair every day and my hair generally becoming much thinner I seemingly stopped receding (or it slowed down massively) at the hairline which was always my problem area..
Now you're probably wondering why I stopped everything at once? and the reason is after many years of seeing for myself what actually worked for me and what didnt I knew exactly what treatments my body would respond best to and what was bad (for me).
It's common knowledge all drugs lose efficacy with continued use, and the drugs that were helping my hair (CPA/OM) were finally giving way to the drugs that seemed to be hurting my hair (dutasteride/finasteride).. my hair wasn't going to get any better carrying on the way I have been so I decided to see if I could "reset" my tolerance to the drugs and go cold turkey on everything for almost half a year.. and guess what?
It worked!
After around 160+ days of no medication at all I began taking OM again (this time 10mg in morning and 10mg at night) for about 45 days now and my hair is growing back much thicker like it did in the early days of OM when I first started taking it!
I dont have any pics yet but I plan on taking some by the 3 month mark to show my progress if things keep moving in the right direction!
Against all odds, Its working out so far!
I know I'm late but happy new year HairLossTalk.com!
