1mg finasteride twice daily.

Has anyone tried taking 1mg of Finasteride twice daily?

I've just noticed that the itch on my head gets worse at night and doesn't finasteride only last like 6-8 hours in the system?

I believe it's more like 12 hours. And finasteride may be out of your system, but it's effects on DHT last longer.

I also believe there's evidence that any more than 1mg a daily doesn't help (your hair) any more.

Try taking two halfs. I've heard half of 1mg of finasteride is 80% as effective as as 1mg.

Well, I guess someone should tell you that is statistics aka based on a group of people. People are different. Some handle finasteride, some don't. Some gets growth on 0.5mg finasteride, some don't.

My best guess is that 1mg EOD is better than 0.5mg ED according to the graf. Twice a week could work for some if they have a slow hairloss rate. But remember, if you have aggressive hairloss, it is harder to treat the hairloss and low doses would probably don't work. I'm thinking of trying 1mg EOD since 0.5mg ED isn't working.

I am asking because I just bought my little brother generic propecia and i told him to cut the pills in half and take half every day. Not sure. Your penis needs DHT to grow, but it makes it's own. I don't know if it uses 5 alpha reductase type I or type II. If type I, he is safe. If type II, he better be fully developed down there before using it. ... Actually, if pregnant women take propecia, their male fetus will get micro penis. Men who don't have 5ar2 also have micro penis. So that answers that question. Maybe give him 1/2 mg, and also tell him to use Nizoral shampoo, and put adractim (dht gel) on his dick. Or ask a doctor when teenager's dicks usually stop growing. He might be past that point and you may be safe then to give him the propecia.

I don't think it's advisable for any man under about 21 to take finasteride, as our bodies can still be growing, but obviously it varies from individual to individual.

1mg a day is the best dose to take but it doesn't matter if it's slightly more or less. I cut my pill into fifths, so one piece is usually smaller than the other four.

Anthony83: 1mg EOD and 0.5mg ED is probably similar in pharmaceutical values, but some docs say 1mg EOD is better. Probably not a huge difference, but EOD is much easier.

However my question is what would happen to dht level if the day after it was followed up with another finasteride dose. Would the levels of dht further reduce?

i.e If 1 dose reduced it from a dht level of 60 to 30, would a seocndary dose the next day decrease dht to 15, and then a third dose to 7.5?

If not why not?
