1 year after hair transplant. Still taking propecia diffuse is winning.

Where did he transplant, only in the front? That's pretty strong diffusion, I'm also losing ground on finasteride and minoxidil, slowly though, and worried after getting a transplant it will continue to thin as well.

Yes just the front. i dont know what to do :(

If you are still on finasteride and minoxidil then don't quit, you will lose much faster if you do. I think you just have aggressive male pattern baldness and you may be back to baseline at least but it's hard to tell from the pictures.

I don't like to recommend dutasteride to anyone as I think its really strong but you can try to maybe take 1 capsule a week and notice if it helps any bit. Read a bit about it and decide if you are comfortable taking it. Also consult your surgeon to ask if your results were expected and if he can estimate how many grafts survived.

I stopped regaine foam because when I was putting it on I saw dozens of hairs literally come off while I was applying it and rubbing it in.

There is a shed phase with minoxidil that you need to ride out, but basically quitting it will always make your hair worse because even if you aren't getting regrowth, it is helping keep those susceptible hairs alive longer.

How long were you using minoxidil for before you quit?

I was using it for years (2) consistently but the end of last summer every time i applied it when i'd rub it in i lost dozens and dozens of hairs. When u'd rub my head without it zero hairs.

Dude that would explain it then. The hair count after rubbing your head doesn't matter. People without male pattern baldness shed hair each day a lot, quite a bit in some cases.

When you quit minoxidil that put all those hairs it was holding up into telogen phase and you probably lose them even faster.

So its normal to lose hairs as soon as you apply the mindoxil to your scalp ?

No, but what you probably saw were already shed hairs that you just didn't brush out from earlier. I've never seen minoxidil make someone instantly lose hair.

It would instantly make me shed. I figured i must be allergic but it never happened like this 2 years ago when i first started. Should i try again ?

It depends how desperate you are to regain some hair, in my case I was, so I had to start using it. It is annoying but I have no other choice.

But keep in mind if you start it you have to commit to it no matter what.

go look at my FUT before/after thread. My graft count was 3200-3400. I dont remember the exact count. I went in with 3200 as the plan but they got slightly more out of my donor strip. I was probably Norwood 3 or 4 and want doing any treatment prior to surgery. Of course in retrospect I should have started hairloss treatments years ago but I literally woke up one day and decided to throw everything I could at my hairloss. Better late than never.
