30 Day Generic Finasteride Experiment

I'm getting on finasteride to try to combat my male pattern baldness. I though I would document what happens day by day. I will post first 3 days and update it later. I'm 31 years old, have always been physically active and very healthy.

This is a 30 day supply of generic finasteride 1mg tablets.

Day1 0.5mg slight numbness in testicles for about 30 minutes and only when sitting down. Don't notice any difference at the gym at all in terms of strength/energy. Wanted to see if my dick still worked so busted a nut, everything seems normal except semen volume is bigger than usual, not watery.
Day2 0.5mg more numbness in the testicles almost a slight pain again only when sitting down for 30min-1 hour, nothing unusual at the gym, testicle pain came back when I was falling asleep. Seems it only shows up when I'm not standing up.
Day3 skipped because I decided to take a few days off between doses due to testicle pain. Felt slightly less fatigue than usual at the gym, more focus. Again wanted to see if my dick is still working, semen volume is almost double. still not watery, compared to not being on finasteride, testicles kind of hurt for 30 minutes after ejaculation, has never happen before.

So far it's pretty pathetic what needs to be done to save your hair....

I really don't know what to say. It's impossible to predict how people will react to it. "My current sides seem crazy already with 0.5 mg dose lol" Are talking about the balls ache? In that case it's not really that crazy... this is widely reported... Maybe you can try the so called Spex method... whatever your initial dose is (1, 0.5, 0.25 etc.) take it 1/week for first week then 2/week second week, 3/week 3rd week etc. This is kind of bro science but has also been floated around by people who claim to be doctors...

Yes this is what I found as well by watching youtube/forums, I was hoping I wouldn't get those sides and yes they vary case by case.
Most people report the ball ache side effect will go away after a week or so.

I will try 0.5mg 1 per week and work my way up hopefully.

I agree that ball ache isn't a reason to drop finasteride, it took a while for mine to stop. I started April 2018, throughout that time I'd have had random ball aches here and there. Last few months have been ball ache free.

I guess it takes longer with some.

Masturbating just to try and analyze if you have less sperm quantity is pretty pathetic.

I'm not concerned about how big my load is- just trying to document everything that I notice is different than usual.

This drug scared the sh*t out of me, I know overthinking about it isn't helping.

One thing that's always on my mind is that finasteride masks high grade prostate cancer - this is rarely talked about.

Man, having some worries when getting a strong drug that interferes with your natural hormonal profile is absolutely warranted and wise. Over worrying and stressing it is probably not advised and counterproductive.

What I was trying to tell you in my first post is that you should probably make your findings public every 3-6 months unless something extraordinary comes up. Otherwise people around here will discredit you immediately if you draw any conclusions after 3-4 days (even weeks) of use.

If you can follow finasteride treatment, do so and monitor changes to your hair quality/quantity as well as stay aware regarding your body health as I understand from other users that some sides creep up slowly on you.

I think many of us here are aware of the possible risk (including masking high grade cancers).

Hopefully you can keep the treatment going with no sides, know when to quit if needed and update every 3-6 months. It sure helps...

Would agree with previous poster that it'll take time to see results. Can take a year or two in some cases.

Ok so at the age of 32 ,after taking 1 -1.25 mg of merck proscar every day for 7 months + I can confidently say this.

Has absolutely no affect on performance in the gym. Ball ache dissapeared after 7 days (I think this can be completely avoided if you start at 0.25 mg for 1-2 weeks and work your way up to 1mg per day. I don't think it has any affect on libido for me, sometimes I'm actually extremely horny like I was at age 18-22. Semen volume seems comical (a lot) at times, although I would have to actually pay attention and compare over a period of time to make a conclusion. Maybe finasteride opened up some old roads inside my balls that were blocked off - I don't think I've ever had volume like that before I got on finasteride. I do notice morning wood is more inconsistent, but I would have to actually pay more attention to make a conclusion. Semen seemed watery at times, but again would have to pay close attention to make a conclusion. Also, I found out that the efficacy difference of 1mg and 0.5mg is a 9% decrease and the prescribed dose in south korea is actually 0.25MG. I just had an FUE transplant and will continue to take it finasteride but at 1.25mg every second day. I am taking other things including minoxidil foam but only for the next 7 months to make sure most of my transplanted grafts survive.

yea I guess I got lucky. Yes the surgeon recommends to use minoxidil after the surgery and it makes sense to use it, I will stop after 7 months. No erectile issues at all, sometimes inconsistent morning wood but I think it could be mental.

Edit: at times I think the semen seemed watery, but again I would have to pay close attention to make a conclusion.

You are definitely over-thinking it. Ive been on finasteride over ten years. I recall some side effects in the first two weeks, I think i lost my sex drive, had some ball ache. After two weeks everything returned to normal and I stopped thinking about it at all. The least troublesome drug I have ever taken. Oh, and I got my hair back
