Any role DHT plays in brain and sexual function is minor. Minor is even an exaggeration; we can function as normal with tiny levels of this hormone.

It’s so trash you can literally inhibit over 95% of It

dude you know nothing please stop talking.

In my opinion it does. There are plenty of things our body “keeps” when not needed.

To answer your question; because it’s a left over by-product of foetal development.

DHT is not useless but it’s really omega in regards to bodily function. The average dude only needs a really small systemic amount

what? you're 41 and such a good hair? dude I mean i don't mean to disrespect but you've a solid NW1 hairline at 41. You're not even receding. I'm 20 and i don't even have 50% of hair like yours. Also, the remaining hair i've left on my head are either very thin or full grey/white hairs. I'd kill to have hairline like yours! Get a life man.

Guys I really get it. I am and have been very lucky. Something changed a few years ago and I’m losing diffuse ground pretty fast. Tried RU. Going to try topical Finasteride.

six months and my forelock and vertex and crown are wiped out. Over a month on Finasteride. RU was a mistake or maybe stopping it was. I have no clue.

Year pic versus today.

Is the pic taken today the one on the right?

Dht is what makes men, men. Period. If you don't believe it, just research it.

The horizontal is last year in October the square is today. I am losing 200-300 ways after 8 months on RU 2 months on topical Finasteride (stopped RU) and 2 weeks oral finasteride .5 daily. Nothing has slowed the shedding. I don’t know what to do. I’m working from a high baseline but at this rate I’m done.

Anyone know how to know when treatments are doing more harm than good?

Since starting RU and then Finasteride I’m far below June 1 baseline and losing 300 hairs ever day. Doctors say I have ‘chronic effulvium’ and try to blame ‘stress’

Any stories where doing nothing might be better? Really struggling. It’s only been two years and all of my density is gone.

@DoctorHouse ? Any suggestions? Don’t want to go another 2 months shedding at this rate. Temples already gone.

to be fair, that horizontal photo 1 year ago is a bad comparison. Its far away with low lighting, the ones you show are close up with brighter lighting... so those are going to look worse regardless

WTF??? How does your hair look that thick while losing that much hair per day?? You must have been born with 2-3 times more hair follicles than the average person.

I had insane density until this started just over two years ago.

These are all from October last year. Density is gone and sheds are constant. Regrowth still happening but hair is thin light and not growing more than .5 inch.

it makes no sense that our bodies would secret a hormone if it served no purpose.

for example, lactase enzyme secretion is inhibited once the child no longer drinks breast milk. Why then would DHT still be present if not needed?

Anyone tuned into this I thought I give an update.

Just hit 6 months using topical Finasteride (sides on oral) mild sides on the topical.

No reduction in shedding and lost ground at the hairline.

I’m about to stop all treatment. Overall hair quality just gets worse, slow diffuse loss. I’m losing shorter thinner hairs. Still have a decent head of hair to spend but concerned that I lost so much ground in under three years.

The temples used to be solid but are clearly receding now.

Any ideas? Are the viatmins a waste of time?

Attached are some photos to compare with last year in the thread.

In some individuals, 5-alpha-reductase inhibitors (finasteride & dutasteride) are hairline killers. Unfortunately that seems to be the case with you.

You can only imagine what a nightmare it is to take that risk only to have it destroy what was once solid. That with all of the advice to act fast or lose it all.

Any indication this could get better when I stop?

You can try adding low dose estradiol to your topical. Like 10-25 mcg. It will probably help your hair follicles calm down if you have reflex androgenicity

Reflex hyperandtogenicity. Some people’s bodies react to these drugs by creating a lot more androgens or finding new pathways to do so. Mutant AR. We are the unfortunate ones.
Are you able to see the difference in just a year? I’m terrified to stop treatment, but each new treatment has been a shed, no quality regrowth and continued shed.

This is each day and the hair quality is a fraction of what it used to be.

Insofar as your hairline is concerned I wouldn't think so. The rest of your hair perhaps.
