Seeking advice:

1. What is the risk of a massive unrecoverable shed happening if I drop oral Minoxidil after two years? I shed constantly and could be why I’m losing ground.

2. I’ve been on topical Finasteride since October, I have lost ground, but labs are all still the same. Is it a bad idea to try a low dose maybe 1mg M W F Propecia with an AI? I’m worried that the HCG prescription to recover from the oral sides is overpowering the topical.

3. Any ideas on how to evaluate non-response versus not enough medicine to make a difference?

Thanks in advance.

Why are you taking oral minoxidil? Why topical finasteride? Topical isn't as strong plud still goes systemic. What is the condition of your hair. You could drop both and use dutasteride.

I’m a NW1 still but diffuse as hell. Went from a crazy dense baseline to see through in just over two years.

Doctor Konior put me on oral minoxidil two years ago 2.5, now on 5 have never stopped shedding.

Added the topical Finasteride after sides on 1 mg for two weeks. Getting desperate.

You shouldn't have messed with your hormones so early. Is your hairloss legit? I see younger guys that are maturing and have some hairloss and freak out and jump on eeverything available which is a bad move. I had aggressive shedding on generic propecia, I also had brain fog And lower libido. For whatever reason switching to dutasteride I had zero sides other than some water retention. I would use oral minoxidil, and some of the topicals as a last resort. Many of these doctors dont have a clue and just prescribe things just to cover their ***. I'd use the proven treatments and steer clear of the alternatives for now, oral finasteride, dutasteride, topical minoxidil., 1 or 2% nizoral. And you could also incorporate rosemary oil as a topical which has shown to be as effective as 2% minoxidil without the sides

I definitely freaked out and made things so much worse. But the miniaturization is real.

No one would do that for me in Chicago. They gave me those numbers based on photos and six month photos over 2.5 years.

Just trying to decide if mixing in a low dose Finasteride or Dutasteride is the way to go. Or even dropping the topical as it doesn’t appear to be working going on 7 months.

As for the oral minoxidil, it’s clear I’ve had some reoccurring growth but nothing like the hair that has fallen out. Could be a factor in constant heavy shed. But stopping might force out any dependent hair.

If you don't have the courage and sanity to sustain a regimen long enough to even know what it's doing then you don't deserve a single strand of hair, let alone your extremely irrational behaviors like a teenager at age 40.

If you really want to know how your density and thickness changes buy yourself a usb microscope camera. If you get sides from finasteride at least fight it with lifestyle changes and supplements first and see if you adapts. Is that hard? LOL at jumping off finasteride after 2 weeks. Also LOL at buying into Konior's suggestion of taking oral minoxidil as a "preventative" method and diligently applying RU which is a joke while keeping ignoring people's valid advices and refusing to get on any stable regimen of oral antiandrogens. People keep giving you useful advices and you keep ignoring them. What's the point of coming to this forum then?

You might think that your life is being consumed by hairloss. Truth is, you were dealt a good hand to be balding only in your 40s and still have clearly superior hair then half the young people here, and you screwed it up yourself with all your persistently bad reactions.

A lot of mixed advice and the reactor were driven by the forums. As for lifestyle I’m healthier than any 20 year old on here, run marathons and lift daily with about 5% body fat. It’s a joke. I was told by ‘hair specialist’ that I wasn’t balding as my hair fell out and that Finasteride was poison, which no matter what people tell themselves it absolutely is poison.

Why would you call it poison? Do you know that hairloss isn't even noticable by others until you have lost 50% density! More men are on finasteride/dutasteride for prostate health than hairloss.. all of the fear mongering is coming from these forums that have never give the medication a chance to work. You can either man up and take it, or get off the forums and let nature take its course

What advice do you want? You refuse to take finasteride/dutasteride, the one thing that will truly treat your hair loss. Minoxidil is a bandaid, it doesn't halt hair loss. Now you're learning this first-hand.

Just shave your head and be done with it.

I just made the mistake of seeking advice from a vastly delusional community.

First it’s attacks for not being bald enough, then for reacting and yes in many cases overreacting to side effects.

I guess aching testicles are just acceptable for the tough guys here but too me it’s an obvious sign from your body that something is wrong.

At this point I have tried everything except Dutasteride and have given each a full 6 month run. I listened to doctors and tried to move from safest to highest risk for sides. At no point have I been arrogant or rude to soul in these forums. Yes this experience has freaked me out and I’ve vented and reacted as such.

Anyway, my question if any reasonable member wants to chime is:

In making another attempt on Propecia a gradual transition from topical is best. And having labs that included a jump from estrodual from 21 to 90 after my first month if balancing with HCG and and AI could help to manage sides.

@Gary Ferguson I was just defending myself and noting that I have been taking ever possible lifestyle approach to prevent sides. I would never put anyone down unlike a lot of other members. I am grateful that I started this late and feel for everyone at every age experiencing hairloss.

Ball pain is normal but goes away as do other sides, but not many ride them out. You being barely a Norwood one at 40 something and freaking out, you should be grateful that, that is all your at. What will happen to you mentally when you have real hairloss and your body starts to age?

I hate to say it, but the sides shows the medication was working. I got sharp pains, brain fog, and loss of stiffness for almost two months before it went away (finasteride). Those are not the sides to be worried about, especially if you are as thin as you claim. It is gyno which is the real worry, and it sounds like you are a super stud so should not even be concerned about it.

You are tinkering with the current meds you are on.

You can tell yourself whatever you want but the only way to even maintain your hair is by attacking the route problem which is taking an AA of some sort. It sucks to have to take something like finasteride but its that or no hair. Oral minoxidil dare i say it has probably fucked you because your hair cycles are probably wrecked at this point. If you're not prepared to take finasteride, or at least use a proper topical dose that you apply properly to all the surfaces of your scalp liberally. You're lucky you're in your 40's with a NW1 hairline.

Do sides really go away after two weeks or to people just get used to it? I took .5 for three days in a row with an AI and I’ve experienced all of the above except gyno.
I realize the oral minoxidil has fucked my head up, I’m losing a sink full of hair ever day. I thought I could trust Konior at the time he told I could wait to start Propecia. Two years later, I still have hair but the density is gone. Should I stop it?

Its hard to say as everyone as different. For a small minority finasteride has fucked them up big time including the years that followed after them stopping. But then again so has the contraceptive pill for women. Everyone is different. Also dont take the AI. You're killing your estrogen which is of course good for your hair. Just be sure to get bloods done before you go on and periodically whilst on.

I would get off the oral minoxidil, not to mention its awful for your blood pressure which at your age is even worse.
