ADVICE: Thinking about giving Propecia another go after I...

In Sept 08 I began Propecia. The first week I tried to introduce my body to finasteride by taking 0.25mg for the first two weeks until I hit 0.5mg at week 4 at which I stayed @ 0.5mg ED Propecia for 4 months. I had absolutely no side effects except for one Gyno Symptoms! I felt itchiness the first week which pretty much subsided with the use of Aromasin to help counter the effect of raised Estrogen which settled things.

However at around the 4th month mark I got a blood test done which showed my Prolactin and Estrogen levels were raised however within 'normal' ranges for someone of my age. I was really scared of developing Gyno and decided to quit Propecia.

I have now been off Propecia coming up to about 6-7 Weeks. When I was using Propecia I was extremely unfit (stopped going to the gym for 12 months) ate crap and had a high Bodyfat% which I think contributed to the raised Estrogen, PERHAPS?! Anyone shed light on this as a possibility?

So currently I am on Duromine to drop as much BMI as possible and at the same time start hitting the gym and getting healthy. Reducing body fat and working out more often can this perhaps reduce the amount of Estrogen in the body while on low doses of Propecia?

I am open to all suggestions on how to get back onto this drug. I am even happy to take Propecia once or twice a week to atleast be doing something BUT I have no idea if this would have any effect on maintenance?

I'm not a doctor, but its better to be a bald guy w/out boobs than to have hair and boobs. I would seriously think about the amount of chemicals you're putting in your body.

maybe you could try .25 mg and just beef up your regimen on something else (Xandrox maybe?). If you think you just overracted, then maybe you should try to come back. Was there anything else wrong besides having high-normal estrogen numbers? Did you actually grow boobs, or did you imagine it and they were fat? Did you get any other sides besides high estro levels? E.D.? Ball ache? I think those usually work hand-in-hand, and maybe the breasts were just fat. It really sucks man bc you had good results I remember. I know a lot of guys here work out rigorously while you got lazier. Try pushing yourslef to work out and diet harder. Consult your doctor and ask him if you can get away living with high estro levels while not getting breasts. God bless man, keep us updated.

Lowering the dose to 0.25 won't help his sides at all. 0.25mg inhibits the same amount of DHT as 1 mg, it just takes a little longer to get there.

It inhibits ALMOST as much.

Jake, try crushing the pills and dissolving the powder in a strong booze (Everclear). Then extract a small amount equivalent to something like .1 mg......a tiny dose which still inhibits DHT but less so than 1 mg or even .5 mg. That small amount of extra DHT might lessen the sides....while still being beneficial for your hair (although obviously not as much as a full dose).

Worth a try atleast!

Well guys its been well over a few months since I stopped Propecia and the strange thing is if I squeeze hard enough liquid still comes out of the nipples. Now I highly doubt this was due to the Propecia as I've been off the drug for awhile now.

I gained approximately 10kgs of fat while on the drug (completely unrelated to Propecia due to stresss).

I am now working out 5x a week.

I've definatly got a lot of fat around the nipples but can fat cause liquid to come out of then nipples?!

IDK about the liquid stuff coming out Jake, you should really see a doctor about that before you get on finasteride again. It could still be hanging over from the finasteride, but it could be something else. Tell him you want to give it another try but first to address this problem first. Good luck man.
