What about Celine Dione and her hubby. There must be another dynamic at play, like wealth and fame:

I have no idea what you're talking about as they were looksmatched and Celine has always looked like an old woman. In that picture, I would've easily believed them to be the same age. Also, even then, Celine was worth a LOT more than he was.

Allow me to rephrase: It's only gross if the older person is unattractive and the younger is not.

I think Celine was around 14 or 15 at the time that René first kissed her.

It's likely that she was insular and never explored the market or developed her tastes much. He might be the first or second male that came along, and then she was committed.

I hope you are kidding, to me he looks like her grandpa or dad at best.

Agree, he was her manager and they worked closely together in a busy career, so ya she never had much time to look around.

At that age you are still very impressionable and susceptible to fluffy feelings of "love"

I doubt the relationship would have been a success if she only made it to a local singer at a weekend pub.
Money and fame helped. Plus I think Celine is as genuine and authentic as she puts on, won't find many like that.

On the other hand she wouldn't have such a pleasant positive personality if her career wasn't as big as she was.

Today I was reading the local news site from my country and observed a very unusual phenomenom which was not the first I noticed:

1. Some 40 year old man got married with a famous 20 year old girl (they both work in the same field). Everybody was saying that it was normal, because the girl looked "mature" (indeed, her face isn't cute anymore, maybe because of too much drinking or because she got fucked in the departament of looks). All the people were cheering her and her man. Nobody gave a sh*t.

Now another 2 similar cases:

1. A famous 42 year old man, who was a Chad for his entire life bangs a 24 year old girl. The guy is arrogant jerk and he's narcissitic, his full head of hair is not planning to go away or even grey. The public perceives this couple as beautiful, they have a baby.

2. 50 year old businessman married a 36 year old woman. Everybody on the comments are calling him a pedophile, grandpa. Guess what? He's bald, totally f*****g bald. And guess what again? HE'S RICH as f***, but that didn't help and the public perceives him as a weirdo.

So, here my theory of public perception comes into play. The hyphotesis is: if the age difference between the couple is noticable, the man must not look like an old man (bald, grey hair) or the woman must look older than she really is, in order not to cause negative reaction from the public.

What do you think about this? Have you observed something similar?
Yep, this doesn't surprise me.
The finger-wagging masses demand uniformity.
And mostly a visual uniformity.

Otherwise you will meet their wrath.
