seems like it would be out of the ordinary that one of these stars is NOT using steroids.....

read as well that ex manager Joe Torre is coming out with a book about his yankee years...where he dishes the dirt among other things on A-rod.....supposedly saying teammates called Alex: A-Fraud.....among other things....

a gossipy book like that from Torre just looks real bad on himself IMO..unethical.... a guy of his age and profile should be above those things.... but $$ is a big temptation i suppose...

Think twice ~

I'd bet that 90 to 100% of all baseball and football players have used steroids at some time during their career - either college or pros. The ones you don't hear about are the ones that just havn't been caught - yet.

Wow, are you sure about that statement.

Phelps was stupid for not realizing that paparazzi was going to be following him around since he is a super-star athlete now. However, the "journalist" who took his picture hitting a bong only did so becuase he knew Phelps was an easy target that wouldn't do anything about it. Still though, it's BS that people have made such a big deal out of it. A lot of people smoke weed and nobody cares. Rappers are an example.

I saw an interview with some rapper and Katie Couric, where the rapper admitted on TV to smoking weed everyday. Why doesn't the paprazzi follow him around? Probably because a journalist would be too scared, because all rappers have gangster ties.

First off, all rappers have gangster ties??? really like seriously... are you? Most rappers are actors, there are no rap gangters,.. maybe thugs but no real gangters. Also machael phelps is an USA Olympic swimmer who represents more then any rapper. So he smoking weed, popping pills, getting wasted etc is thought to be worse. Having a 100 milion dollarsl coming in, you an image to keep. Also, can you really call the person papperazii when its some dude getting wasted at a party and taking random pictures of people, idk.

Now...

You ignored the fact that dope users and dealers get started by the influence of their peers. They do greatly abuse others and many become dealers, multiplying this evil upon society. I can count many that are within sight of my home. Likewise other places. This is not about Phelps' reputation, but about fears of robbery, harm or death that arise because many have made light of the problem and have gotten caught up in trivial things like losing a portion of his fanfare and money.

So, please take note and look at the destruction of society, which weighs heavily upon the guilty and innocent, and make a better judgment than what you just made. I see neither of the above two being a healer or guardian of our troubled society.

ps. "Biyach" lol

Phelps is worth $100m? :dunno:
Outside of Olympics time does anyone really care about Phelps?
I mean swimming is'nt really something that people follow and get excited about like football or baseball.

We had a girl swimmer in the UK who got 3 golds in Beijing and she was on the front pages everyday during the Olympics but since they ended I have'nt heard anything about her. Seems to me that swimming (like cycling ect) is only relevent during the Olympics.

Agreed. I don't know anyone who cares about swimming, present company included.

Of course....but you take a superior athlete with a good guy clean image and its gold. Look at Lance Armstrong. Who cares about cycling?

Funny how nobody in the media kicked up this much of a stink about weed when Dubya admitted to hittin' the doobies.

I'd hardly equate pot with 'evil'.

Frankly, I think I like Michael Phelps even more after this.

I say this NOT because I think his smoking weed is a healthy thing for one's lungs, or "cool", or whatever... but rather, I think this shows to me that he's just a normal guy. A human. I can relate to him a lot more now, whereas before, he just looked like some kind of superhuman swimming machine.

After all that Phelps has been through, and all he's accomplished, and all of the work that must have gone into it, he's probably EARNED himself the luxury of a simple pleasure, a nice fattie load of chron.

AND, I heard on the radio a humorous little tidbit... this little bong photo pecadillo of his sure does cast a whole new light on the infamous "Phelps diet".

Guys news flash: the majority of professional athletes juice. It's very easy to cycle and not get caught if you know what you're doing.

I also dont understand the negative connotation here, Steroids are performance enhancers. There's nothing inherintly 'bad' about them, i think pretty much everyone over 50 should use them to enhance their quality of life (Or anyone who experiences andropause, for that matter). When a dumb 15 year old kid uses steroids to get hyooj then its abuse, but by that logic, ANYTHING can be abused. If you simply think they're bad because you've been told they're bad (remind you of marijuana?), then you're a rigid thinker and a fool. There is nothing wrong with steroids, and they aren't evil. Thanks.

Did he or he did not admit to using marijuana? I seem to recall a recorded message straight from the horses mouth....

I can’t wait until A-Rod comes to Fenway…I can already hear the “A-Roidâ€￾ chants in my head. It’s a shame…when all is said and done, it seems like this entire baseball generation of baseball will be tarnished.
