No, you're not too old. The potential amount of hair regrown, if you respond, may not be as much as a younger person because I assume a lot of your loss is not recent. Then again, it's possible you might respond well, generally.

Bite the bullet and see a dermatologist specializing in hairloss. Note that I said dermatologist (M.D.), not "trichologist," nor a commercial hairloss outfit. When you walk out of his/her office you'll feel a lot better that you've sought an expert's advice. There's a lot to be gained by your own internet research...but also an equal amount of BS to avoid. Distinguishing between the two can be difficult in the beginning.

Good luck to you, and welcome to the board.

I started at age 48, so you're not too old. If your hair loss has been slow, then you stand a good chance of halting it. You probably won't regrow much hair -- hair lost longer than four years ago cannot be regrown with current treatments -- but you would be a good candidate to stop or significantly slow down any further loss.

I got on finasteride, Nizoral shampoo, copper peptides (Folligen or Tricomin) and minoxidil when I started to address my hair loss. It stopped my hair loss for now and has resulted in modest regrowth.

I am 38 and have only been on minoxidil since July 05. I can certainly say that I wish that I had started earlier, however, the results, especially in the frontal area are fantastic. I still have quite a bald spot in the back, but considering I have only been treating for 7 months, I am more than happy to have started my regiment. Here is my current regiment. minoxidil 5 percent, twice a day, Revivogen before bed, 1 multivitamin, 2 saw palmetto pills twice per day, 2000mcg Biotin, 1000 Ester C.
