Anyone else have problems with being mocked by your family?

Joan, I believe your reply simply ingrained my point. I know a little bit about those moods our loved ones put up with. Maybe their tolerance is further testimony of the love around you? That is my belief anyway. xo

And the love around you also if you're sometimes moody as well, I.D.

You know the old saying, "You always hurt the ones you love the most."

I honestly wish my mother was more supportive of me trying to keep my hair but she married(now divorced) my father when he was a NW4-NW5 when they were around 26 so she probably doesn't even see baldness as an issue. The thing that shocked me the most was my Grandmothers comments because she was actually supportive when she challenged my Grandfathers comments at first.
I was never super confident in myself and balding has completely destroyed what was left of it and it certainly doesn't help when even my own Mother mocks me.

That is cruel of her.
If your mother came from the school of hard knocks when she was a kid then it might partly explain (not excuse) why she's had some practice at emotional detachment.
Could be she's in her own "survivor mode" and you're the nearest, dearest recipient of her tough love? Has she mocked you regularly during of your upbringing?
Haha don't answer that if it's too personal.

My Dad is probably NW4ish, has had an eternally receding forehead since he was in his 20s and I honestly don't think it ever bothered him much. Maybe because he married my mum at that age and they've been happily married since. I also just don't think it was as much of an issue "back in the day". I guess I'm probably just a lot more insecure than he was considering I jumped on treatment as soon as my temples started to go. Accepting it was never an option.

My Dad basically just says the standard "its something most men have to deal with, its natural". My mum and sister are a bit more supportive - maybe because as women they know the importance of hair for a man's looks? Maybe not - considering my dad is NW4 and my sister is married to a straight up NW6. She actually started telling me about him saying all of a sudden he "wants his hair back, it was his thing" and has started using Propecia/Rogaine...I was like errrrm, I think that ship has sailed buddy.

Miracles can happen, if they can put a man on the moon, they should be able to put hair on a nw6

Well then Joan, I'll just have to make an exception to the LoveMood rule, and make the"extra effort" to treat you nicely lol.
I think I'm up for the task. (-:

With all the medical and technological advances we've had in the past century, we'd think there'd be a cure for hair loss by now and for many other dreadful conditions. Apparently though, it seems to be more difficult to make hair grow than literally putting a man on the moon.

Well duh! :uglylol:

to be fair that does make sense. billions of years of evolution went into making us, while space is just a big old empty. rockets are just giant *** engines with massive amounts of fuel. the part that breaks off is the fuel for takeoff

I was actually the one doing the mocking. I made fun of my uncle for being bald, thinking balding isn't that big of a deal, so it's ok to make fun of his baldness. I wasn't a little kid either, I was like 18/19. I didn't mean it in a mean way as I knew I would probably eventually go bald myself. Now I'm struggling with hairloss and I feel horrible for what I did. I never fully grasped the impact that going bald has on a person's life until I had to go through it myself. Although it is worse for me because I am balding in my 20s (started at age 20) and he didn't start balding until he was in his 30s.
