I think I've decided to leave it alone. I'm rubbing enough crap on my head as it is.

Update ~ (about an hour or 2 later)

Just started my laundry to get me thru the week - and I'l be damned if we don't have a bottle of Downy - my wife musta picked it up.

Nahhhhhhh.

I am going to admit I tried it last week, and to be totally honest I couldn't stand it. The entire shower fills with a huge, heavy aroma that gave me a bad headache. I smelled my own head all day and it really kinda sucked. No way I could do it every day.

In order to really do this, you have to go out and buy Downy Free & Clear. No smell and no dyes.

It looks like I'm the only one left doing this still. I absolutely love Downy as a conditioner and use it 5 or 6x a week in the mornings. I have also started taking internal MSM in hopes that it will boost the sulfur effect and make my hair even thicker than Downy does.

No clue if I've got regrowth, but to be honest, I haven't paid attention to that because I actually like how my hair looks now.

Actually guys I am not just joking around, but I heard cow manure actually has lots of nitrogen in it. The fertilizers in cow manure it must be the mix of phosphates and nitrogen combined with its ability to hold water makes it an ideal delivery vehicle. I have been rubbing maybe 1/4 a cup of ordinary cow manure onto my scalp and letting it set for about 20 minutes. It stinks a lot but after I take a shower I am good as new. I actually know a few friends that did it and it worked really well for a few of them.

Just send me your credit card number and the 3 digit confirmation code on the back and I will tell you how to maximize the results through power manuring where you can essentially get 2 times the absorption rate using common household items.

Harie, so you have been using this for quite awhile now, honestly do you see any sort of regrowth at all?

I don't know, I haven't really been paying attention. Like I said before, even if I never regrew 1 hair from it, it's an awesome thickening conditioner and it's super cheap. I use it 6 days a week and love the way it makes my hair look.

I've always had frizzy/curly hair and Downy really tames it down to decent levels. I still have a bit of frizz/curl with Downy, but it's a lot less than without it. I hate all other conditioners compared to Downy.

If you read what Squeegee said - he had quicker regrowth when adding Downy to minoxidil.

I must agree with Cassin, I was applying it on my chest hair for sometime now.....and it seems like the follicles are getting toasted......I like it actually..dont need to wax

I would imagine a fabric softener would have some toxic or at the least harmful chemicals in it. Wouldnt putting it on say your chest or head possibly get absorbed in the skin into the blood stream possibly doing who knows what? It doesnt sound very safe to me.

People aren't using it because it's cheaper. They are using it because it contains cations, and an inconclusive study suggested it may promote hair regrowth.

And yeah, the thought of some chemical in it destroying hair follicles scares me. I tried it once, liked the thickening effect, and chickened out on using it regularly.

Oes no! Those fatty acids and cations are killing me!!!

Fabric softner has been around forever and people have been putting in on clothes forever. Clothes that are in direct contact with your skin. If you think all the fabric softner is washed out by the rinse cycle, you're crazy.

Straight from the MSDS sheet on Downy. "Downy is practically nontoxic". "The softening agents used in the product are biodegradable". The only hazardous chemical in Downy according to MSDS is Ethanol, which is between 1 and 5% by volume. OMG!!! Corn is a killer!

sh*t. You can drink Downy and only have an upset stomach. Besides - I use the free & clear version. No dyes, no perfumes. Just fatty acids, cations and ethanol.
