So ive been on finasteride 1 year with a break of one month. Different doses and differens side effects. Well the side effect that kept on coming back was of course low libido and floppy boner (i could literally fold my dick in half when "fully" erect) . So last round i took 0.5mg EOD. went well for a few months until i got this weird tingeling/burning feeling in my nipples. So to prevent possible gyno i took 0.25mg of Arimidex 3 times a week in for one month.
Not only did the weird sensation in my nipples disappear but my libido went thru the roof and my boner rock solid, morning wood like never before. I was happy as f*** and felt great . I stopped with the Arimidex after 1 month, this made my estrogen spike and i got the same sides back. I went back on Arimidex again and same thing as last time. Super high libido and super boner.
So im thinking on ether staying with 0.25mg Ari with regular blood work to check estrogen levels and blood fat to keep it in the sweet spot (you want to have a normal range of estrogen because to low or to high is not good)
The thing is i now know that my sides are estrogen related. So any thoughts on handling that besides Arimidex? Is it maybe better to slowly wear of the dose to avoid the estorgen spike or maybe take it longer at let the body adapt? Maybe try Zinc instead?
I have been on finasteride for a year as well. You mentioned "last round.05 E.O.D.," What is that may I ask?
My compliments on very well put together study and dissertation, very cogent. I think you would make an excellent representative for a product of this type. You strive to be unbiased but like Carl Sagan, the beloved and honored astronomer. He wanted to believe but needed imperical proof on such matter of grave importance.
****I gather my data, from experience and reliable sources. It is kind of spooky though how this med...this THING is morphing me into something else. Being a trainer/teacher. I was and taught my students how to be in tune with their bodies and when to notch it up for a jump ahead break through. I knew my body was off balance.
****You asked for ideas on coming off the dosage. This almost a year later so you have probably found a way and executed it. I would be interested in what you did. I haven't decided whether I want to jump down in steps or gradually.
There is nothing wrong with taking an AI to counter Finasteride's increase in estrogen conversion. It is important to dose it correctly so you don't decrease it too much. When people take an AI and they lose hair they are reducing their estrogen to low levels. This is something different. You most likely would only need about .5mg of Arimidex/week to counter the rise in estrogen (which is roughly 15-20%).
Thanks for very much for that Retinoid. Have I made a note of that and will bring it to my Doctor as well. I am feeling worse daily. As I have survived cancer before. I know the systemic sensation of cancer. A few descriptions are: A flu like feeling but different with a sensation that something gravelly or sand or glass is inside you attacking you. It feels dirty, dark and alien. It is like a bad sore throat all over inside your body. Those are some of the best descriptions I can think of now. As I have been through it. I know some of the signs, and it varies with the type of cancer, but some early stages of some cancers have no physically detectable sensations.
>>>The earlier you are detected and treated for cancer the better your chances for short AND long term survival.
*** I really hope I am wrong. The first time I went through cancer, I thought I had a bad flu that I couldn't shake. When I finally got around to checking for cancer. The cancer had advanced and apparently to that point where survival, even with treatments, was questionable. My doctor told me some time later when treatments were finished. " I didn't want to tell you then. But I didn't think you were going to be a success case. My prognosis when you first came to me, was 2-weeks, 3 on the outside.. You should have come to me much sooner." He was a no nonsense doctor. But I responded well to treatment, and my medical team, and especially my doctor, were surprised and very pleased at my recovery speed. I went into it with a strong attitude and I was fit at the beginning. Doctors said both those factors contributed greatly to my survival.
But one of my Doctors' told me. If you think you have any symptoms. Come to me right away. Don't wait for your next sceduled appointment. If I am busy I will make room for you."
>>>And that is why I am taking steps today to set up an ultrasound/X-ray screening AND a cancer blood screening.
Although the incidence is small,
Finasteride has been linked to Male Breast Cancer. But Finasteride also lowers the risk of Prostate Cancer significantly.
>>>>So it is a difficult dilemma. Do I stop Finasteride and lose the benefits? Prostate and hair. If I continue with Arimidex, the feminizing side effects and cancer risk estrogen will be negated. But if I am diagnosed with cancer (again aah.) most likely I will have to stop Finasteride. Another symptom of male breast cancer I just found information about is an inverted nipple. I noticed that about a week ago in the mirror when I was brushing my teeth before bed. I thought that is weird. I am not saying this scare anyone. Just stay alert to body changes. It could save your life.
