Bald is uglifying

Is there a single, solitary man or woman on the face of the Earth who isn't uglier having lost or while losing their hair? I've yet to see one.

Now, some look OK with close-cut hair, like Vin Diesel (who I find to be homely anyhow and inexplicably popular despite having a lisp) or Zidane. Yet they both would look better without the bald spot.

lol that's really funny!

Well, I guess bald isn't always ugly then :)

Bruce Willis also looks good bald :)

I once heard it said "Baldness?, thats just something that happens to ugly blokes is'nt it?"

Hair loss takes away from your looks but it doesn't necessarily make you ugly. I'd say it is only 'uglifying' if you are below average/ugly to begin with.

Statistically, it's probably true. Looks are heritable, and given how devastating baldness is to all but the best looking males, over generations it's apt to become more concentrated among families who have a higher percentage of average-to-ugly-looking members.

I think the right hairstyle / type of hair can do wonders for the "below average" male.
I am an ugly dude but I would get compliments when I had my long dark hair that framed my face. One girl even called me "pretty"

This is why baldness can be a big curse to some of us - in my case it was my only good feature. Now it's gone, my unsymmetrical face is on full display.

I've always found self pity more unattractive than a lack of hair, could just be me though.

Nope, you're not alone in that thinking.

Luckily, there are other attributes which fit in to the equation of attractiveness besides hair.

It's because without hair to frame your face, you have a huge forehead which throws everything else out of proportion...and beauty is in the proportion. No amount of confidence will frame your face properly.

Search: Sam Kass (Obama's chef) and Christian Monzon (male model) for two examples on the internet. You see these guys in regular life too of course.

Kass is like NW2.5 and Monzon is a NW1 !!!! They are just headshavers not baldies and also both are pretty young so the rest of them does'nt look too bad anyway.
For a real comparrison look at an average 30 yr old with hair and an average 30 yr old NW6. You'll see the overall difference it makes. On the same guy it can add 10 yrs you see this all the time on hairpeice adverts.

To q above, he does look better with hair. Not so much better. But still.

Its said over and over, but work on other qualities. Fitness/health, diet, tan, style, lifestyle, hobbies etc etc.

Its not nessacarily going to turn us into a bruce willis. But its better to think about what we can positively transform as opposed to being glum about what we cant change.

Christian Monzon---also pretty bald at this point hence why he sports the full shave and not the buzzcut...also still a good looking guy. You guys are just giving way too much importance to certain stuff that shouldn't matter. Yeah, hair will likely look better than bald in most cases but there are degrees of "better." Some girls who I think are very hot with shorter hair would look "better" with longer hair, but it ultimately doesn't matter because they're still very good looking. The longer hair would be like a little bonus but it definitely wouldn't be the difference between ugly and gorgeous if she was already good looking to begin with.

There are many examples of good looking guys who are extensively bald...you guys are putting way too much emphasis on "hair always looks BETTER"...so what? There are many men who prove you CAN look very good with no hair at all...even if you would look "better" with hair. Its about looking the best you can with what you have....I mean really...compare there 2 pics...do you guys really there is THAT much difference between the 2? Does he look SO much better with the buzzed down hair than he does with the fully bald head?

Yeah sorry about that but in the images I saw when I googled it they definatly had much more hair. But yeah only a few guys (the very best looking ones) can remain barely uneffcted (in terms of attractivness) by baldness.

Baldness happens to handsome people. Granted they are not as handsome afterward but to think that because I have an attractive face means I am immune to hairloss is stupid. Anyone who believes that is stupid.

Couldn't agree more :/ ..... if your an attractive guy with a full head of hair you have the potential of being *hot* if you work hard enough on your body.... if your hair is gone.. then you can look *attractive* at best (generally speaking here) ... and i know, some of you gonna disagree...but that argument repeats itself in an infinite loop on that section...

Well how many hot women would still be hot if they lost their hair?

Absolutely.

I have a huge forehead and I'd look monstruous without hair (today I'm still a NW2).

Some guys, however, look good without hair and, again, you are one of them, UM.

Well, you always have your personality. I mean, if you are a cool guy not a nice guy. Nice guys always finish last.

Its been inspiring to see my friend go bald.

For a few years, he suffered from pretty low self esteem/confidence. But he started shaving. And more or less at the same time, he got a cute girlfriend.

Recently, I saw him, and he was looking a little browner and tanned. I asked him if he had been to a taning salon - there was no way he would have got a tan elsewhere in the english winter - and he had. A few times apparently. He already looked a lot better when he shaved off. He doesnt even completely wet shave it all. Im just talking pretty low. But his tan made him look a lot better.

Im just llustrating this story to show that often, the fear of balding is the worst part. Once you adapt and go with the flow, its really not such a big deal.

Whats probably quite profound and relevant to all of us, is that its probably more detrimental to spend ages stressing and being depressed about losing hair. The quicker you can adapt and do things to modify your appearance accordingly, the better off you are.

As long as your not seriusly unhealthy/ugly, I beleive everyone can boost their looks with fairly basic things. Its easier to adapt and work on what you can then lament and lose time thinking about what you cant change.
