I think that those who have severe balding in there 20's and those with minor hair loss in their late 30's and beyond have a fundamentally different type of hair loss. I believe that as more genes are discovered and sorted out there will be enough significant differences to classify many different types of androgenic alopecia. Initially there was only thought to be a bald gene on the X chromosome, inherited only from the mother sides of the family. However, they have discovered SOX21 gene on Chromosome 20. In the future, Im positive there will be dozens of more genes found, and this will allow a better classification system of hair loss types and hopefully better treatments.
