What a ridiculous forum, just read the first post. A bald dude asking himself why everyone on slybald forum is 'so awesome' compared to guys like us on HairLossTalk.com. Strange forum... almost like they're delusional.

'Yes, baldness my friends is a huge advantage! Being bald is a gift and I am reminded by it everyday. ' ROFLMAO
These guys can remind themselves of how awesome they are 24/7 if they like.
It doesn't change the fact that they are still viewed as 2nd class citizens.

Swing,

Marco is now going to tell you that if you good looking hair loss wouldn't affect you much if it all:)

But to be frank, I think you might have a little bdd that's holding you back. You have enough hair to pull but speak like youre bald

There are so many variables involved with still brig attractive without hair. Its not even a matter of pulling off the look, and remaining medicore. I am talking about still being considered objectively handsome.

You loosee the hair, In most cases become average if not lower.

I get tired of extreme examples of guys telling me I managed so can you. I have seen lots of attractive dudes get obliterated by simple recession, and a big forehead exposre. Even the slightest amounts starts to decimate there looOKs. The same guys who look handsome in hats.

Once you lose your hair, any good looks you had will almost always now be described in the past tense.

Take my dad for example, whenever I've meet friends of his from the past, they always comment on how much I look like him when he was my age and then they say "Your dad was very good looking, he had a nice head of hair!" Or "He used to be so cute and he had so much hair!" Or "I wish you could have seen your dad with hair, He was so attractive"
They always bring up the fact that he wasn't always a NW6.

I'll then feel bad for him, because I know it bothers him. He always had and still does try to take pride in his looks. And I couldn't imagine how I would feel if the same thing was being said about me.

Agree with this, It's an indirect approach to tell someone that he looks like sh*t. What bugs me the most is that no one can fathom how a bald NW7 guy looks like when he would have a full head of hair. It's simply impossible to imagine that, just like you cannot imagine what you will look like bald when you do have a full head of hair.

"because I know it bothers him" Yeah, no sh*t, everyone would be bothered by it. That's the fate for some of us hair loss sufferers.

This is what your average bald guy looks like.

Try to have a fulfilling love life looking like this:

Damn.

Dude, that sucks. He should get on finasteride, he looks a billion times better with any hair at all and still has a decent head of hair.

I go by my experiance out in the real world. Im not in a current position to just start approaching women so I would just use my old flirting ways to test waters as if. I look for body language and eye contact like I used to and NEVER had problems picking up women. This was before the internet site like tinder. Im also not in a position to start dabbling in the internet.
My situation is a long story, been told before.
I do NOT get the looks I used to. Possibly I am just aging worse than I thought, who knows. I used to get women approaching me all the time, in front of my girlfriends or female friends with no regard to who they were.
Now though it seems they go way out of their way to not make eye contact.
I dont have BDD. Im just a realist. It is what it is. My hair goes through phases. Right now I dont feel it looks bad. I started rolling again (not super aggressive though) enough to apply topicals and feel like they are penetrating. I think that is helping with thickness over all. My obscene forhead is unhelpable. I saw some pics of myself from the side recently and was disgusted at how much forhead I am. If I see this then women see this.
My body and fitness is the ONLY thing that gets me by with any regard to women. I drop that and Im screwed. Just means more constant work honestly. Every once in a while I catch a glipsme of my crown in the sun and want to throw in the towel.
Dude IM am one of those people who went from a 10 to like a 4 because of hairloss and premature graying. Not to mention it seems my fuqing body hair has just went nuts in the past couple of years for no reason. I was pretty sure that stage of my life was done.
Again I have to compare myself to the closest thing to me, which would be my brother who has a natural physique, perfect hair and ZERO body hair. Kid eats nothing but candy all day and still looks like he works out. I see the girls he pulls in still. 20 year olds, hot ones. Ones who if I still had the hair I could to, but whats the point of dragging around a 3 when he'd walk in with a 9, that would be a kick in the balls wouldnt it.

If you lose all you looks when you lose your hair you weren't good looking to begin with. Hair i only a part of what makes a man handsome. You and your dad are average looking and had decent hair which added a few points, this is the case for 90% of men though so don't feel too bad. It's usually pretty boys and feminine looking guys that are destroyed by hair loss, women think they are cute like in a puppy dog way. Masculine looking men (strong angular bone structure, tall, dark) are considered hot or sexy (not cute) and hair loss usually has minimal effect.

It's a case by case situation.

Like shook says, some men are destroyed by baldness.

I wasn't for example, I've never covered my forehead with hair (it was spiked up), so the change wasn't so drastic when I started shaving my head.

For other guys who have longish hair that suits them, it's another story.

Everyone isn't as lucky as we were marco, we're a minority. Most men will look like crap bald.

I'm a feminine-looking guy by the way (I don't have angular bone structure and I'm not dark), so again, it's a case by case situation.

I agree with you. The other thing is having hair doesn't automatically mean you are attractive either, there are many many unattractive guys with full hair. It's case by case as you say. You are tall through and have a handsome face so you beat 90% of men with that alone.

It's true, but having hair surely helps them.

Face is #1 with height a close second, being lean is next and hair/skin/teeth come next I would say. A tall bald/balding lean handsome guy will be more attractive than millions of average looking short full heads.

I get compliments for my looks quite a bit, but average is probably fair. Thankfully I still have enough hair that when I run into old friends, I don't get any "You're going bald" comments. But my brother did recently point out how large my forehead is beginning to look. He's almost a NW6 himself, so he can detect even the smallest amount of hairloss on a guy.
But I'm not delusional, if I go bald my looks will be wrecked.

I'm 5'8 is I don't have height. I am lean, so I got that working for me. Now I just need to maintain that for the rest of my life. I'm a very hairy guy, so I can grow a beard to help give me a more angular face. But without hair, I'll look like...I don't know. I can't think of a bald guy to compare myself too. But not good.

You still have your hair so you can maintain with current meds and new stuff coming out will probably allow you to reverse it. Im sure you will be fine I think there are some exciting treatments in the pipeline,

True, there are many men with a full head of hair who are unattractive but it is not their full head of hair that is making them unattractive. It is something else, like being overweight. Michael Moore for example. But I've seen plenty of bald men whose lack of hair clearly makes them much less attractive. The pictures that Fred posted earlier in this thread (page 7) are a perfect example. Baldness really does erode the looks of so many previously-handsome men. I've seen it happen time and time again. Some people can pull off the shaved head look, but from experience, they are the exception and not the norm.

When several of my friends (all with full heads of hair) said that I was obsessing over hair loss, I encouraged all of them to shave their head just for a single day. Just one single day. Their hair would grow back within a couple of weeks. None of them would do it, even temporarily. I mean, if they claim that baldness does not make or break a man's looks, then why would none of them even shave their head for a single day?

Deep down they know the truth but they are afraid to admit their so called "vanity."
Vanity really equals a reality that we're ashamed of.

I agree most men will not look good bald or balding. The ones who can carry it off would always look better with hair of course but since there are no cures you have to play the hand you are dealt. Work on things you can improve like skin, body, clothes. Until a cure comes it's all you can do really.
