Greetings agents, my name is Nikola.

I started going gray at age thirteen. I am now twenty and full of grays, and I love it. In fact, I enjoyed my mature appearance so much, I started to grow my hair out.

Then one day at age nineteen I noticed that my temples were thinning out. I was extremely surprised by this and grew extremely paranoid. I am a very stressful person.

Anyway, I started rogaine foam and saw little hairs grow, I was delighted. The problem is, I hate the substance and would like to go onto something like Propecia.

So today I decided to lift a mirror above my head and look at my crown. I noticed that it looked as if it was thinning(and probably is.) It feels fine in some areas that worry me. I am wondering how long do I have. Should I really go to Propecia? Cut my hair? Use a special shampoo? And finally, can you go gray and thin at the same time?

UUHH....

Well your hair looks fine to me. But, I would ask myself these questions before starting a Regimen.

1. Does your family have male pattern baldness running through it? If it does, then I would start to worry.

2. Be willing to shave your head to see actual hair loss not only in the crown but on the temple area. That will usually tell how far gone it is without having longer hairs disguising the areas.

3. Prepared to spend money and be faithful to your regimen such as the "big three".

Number 2 is highly optional LOL as a lot of people would disagree with me but when I did it it helped to see how far gone I truly was.

male pattern baldness is on my father's side. NOBODY in my family has ever went gray, or at least as bad as I am.

The quality of the picture of the top of my head is terrible, you mgith want to excuse that.

I have set up an appointment with a doctor just in case.

Here is a better picture of my vertex.

A few weeks ago I did put on some rogaine on the vertex, but stopped thinking that maybe my doctor has something to say about it when I meet with him. Since then it got worse, can it be possible that it was just the shedding taking effect or a change in my diet?

i don't understand? you put it on for a few weeks or you put it on once a few weeks ago? it's unlikely that even if you put it on for a few weeks you would see that much of a change.

Hey DocBenway...I would suggest the meat from the black aquatic centipede. It's sure to do the trick but can be hard to find. I've heard, however, it's fairly plentiful in Interzone. Just stay away from bug powder....it causes major sheds !!

I grew paranoid with my temples and the rest of my hair looks quite thin. The thing is, I've never had my hair this long before so I really didn't know what to expect when I looked in the mirror one day and could see through my scalp in certain areas.

Would it be risky to get off the stuff?

Oh, and...

It's nice seeing a Burroughs/Cronenberg fan.

The top-view pic reminds me of my situation before I started any treatments. Any advice I can say is to consider starting propecia now, throw in some nizoral, and probably by this time next summer you forgot what all the fuss was about. I was freaked out too when I saw scalp on the my vertex, but thankfully we don't go bald overnight so it's a very gradual thing. It's still on my mind, but it's now a part of everyday life and I'm not freaked anymore. So for now, hang in there dude, go party and don't let this take control of you life. Let beer be the wind beneath your wings :lily: , LOL just kidding, but seriously, go out and have fun.

Oh ya, L'oreal Vive thickening Shampoo will work wonders until treatments kick in. It'll cosmetically make your hair appear thicker after each time you wash.

funny part is your hair looked so good BEFORE the treatment.

it reminds me of an old saying "dont fix nothing unless its broken"

Eh, The original pictures are crappy and I didn't add the flash. The two new pictures have flash. I went to a doctor, not a specialist and he didn't even know what the vertex was. Shows how well that appointment went.
First off, I'd like to say thanks.

I have a few questions:

Are you talking about the Propecia pill or the drops?

I am still new to this hair treatment stuff, so how long can I go on this nizoral/Propecia treatment before effects diminish?

If left untreated, how long would I have before I reach the next "step"?

Thanks again.

Oh, and I dislike parties. I'm a troglodyte. :p
