>Norwood 1 - 3 in 3/4 months
>Basically no body hair

From a personal point of view there is no relation but everyone is different.

You went from a Norwood 1 to a NW3 in 3 months? You should see someone about getting your thyroid checked.

I did get my thyroid checked. My levels are only a tiny bit above normal but climbing slowly.

Doctor said my hair is unlikely to fall out at that number. I do have a re-test very soon though.

Also thyroid hairloss doesn't cause miniaturised hairs and classic male pattern baldness pattern. It more just falls out I think.

I have classic receding and diffuse thinning of minituarised hairs. Just aggressive hairloss sadly.

I still think its just overwhelmingly likely if your losing hair and your a man its simply male pattern baldness. Its fun to look at other things that maybe have an actual cure, but just really tiny chance
male pattern baldness takes no prisoners you could lose huge amounts of hair quickly

Ha, this discussion reminds me of that guy named Ernie on the old usenet forums...always trolling his theory that body hair robbed head hair of nutrients and that plucking your body hair would cure your hair loss.

From my understanding hair loss is all in relation to receptors not so much how much DHT you have. But what I have noticed at my work is that all these hairless twink esque men seem to have god tier hair. barely any fore arm hair, and smooth legs. Yet all the balding men have massive amounts of hair all over. My observations of Caucasian men I work with.

native people are also smooth as a whistle and have god tier hair. I dont think I have ever seen an aboriginal with hair loss. ALl seem to maintain such luscious locks

But then again there are certain ethnicity out there also have tons of body hair and still maintain strong hairline

Anybody have explanations on this?

no surprise I am hair all over.
Late to the party, but I am balding and can't grow like any facial hair and have like no body hair. All genetics.

I know it's all genetics. However those who don't have any hair whatsoever seem to have the least agressive loss over the long term from my observations. For those that are Caucasian at least.

True, but its a very complicated thing. Its not really DHT that causes male pattern baldness its still unknown at this point. Also DHT is not floating around equally. You might have ARs and be more sensitive to androgens than someone else. You might have higher concentrations of 5 ar enzymes in certain places that contributes to more DHT locally to the hair. Its DHT local to hair that is issue not systemic.
You could have low androgen levels and lots of enzyme that converts T into DHT or more concentrated near or in the follicles that gives you high local DHT but you have low systemic DHT. Biology is quite complicated which we fill in with terms like "aging" or other generic things because we dont know yet how it works. There are processes though that control everything

I have mid-tier DHT and my chest and legs are hairy as fuq. I think it all has to do with sensitivity. Guys with no body hair still have follicles with vellus hair, they just never bound with DHT and turned into gorilla hair, just like the hair on their head never bound with DHT and miniaturized.

I think for most guys, most of the hair on the entire body will tend to be more or less sensitive to androgens, hence twinks with NW0s and apes with NW7. But for some guys, it can get switched around. Highly sensitive scalp and insensitive body and highly sensitive body hair with a resistant scalp. These would be the exceptions and not the rule.

It's not that complicated. Both body hair and hair loss are DHT driven, but you have to have the genetics for that conditions. So a guy with genetics for both conditions and high DHT -> the typical bald gorilla with hairy back. DHT is the driver for both, but otherwise body hair and hair loss are not related.

Yes, your observation about head hair in relation to body hair is correct. I agree that most (not all) guys with exceptionally dense head hair generally have less body hair. I am part Native American and have very thick head hair, very little chest and arm hair, and moderately hairy legs when younger. This dispersion is common among Native Americans, Mexicans, and Asians. Balding is rare among these groups. Perhaps it has something to do with the amount of DHT among these groups.
I honestly can't recall EVER seeing a bald Mexican/Latino. I have seen a handful of Mexicans and other Latinos with exceptional beards, and chest hair. Hairy legs and arms is a mixed bag. I see them both smooth and with lots of leg hair.
