Body Hair Growth

So I've started taking Propecia about a month ago; no sides yet but curiously my body hair is growing a little bit quicker (or maybe I'm just noticing it more). Should this be happening? I thought one indicator for how much DHT you have in your body is the hair loss on head, growth of body hair, kind of a inverse relationship; I thought that if going along this line of thought the systemic reduction of DHT would result in a slowing down of body hair growth rather than speeding up?

Comments?

You are paying too much attention to the little details and you are becoming paranoid.

The secret is to take the pill and forget about it until the next day.

Can anyone explain to me why finasteride would reduce ones body hair but promote growth of scalp hair? Is it reduction in Test?

I thought it's the systemic reduction of DHT. If I remembered right, DHT promotes body hair so the systemic reduction with finasteride use means that you grow less body hair. I think that's why michael barry's doing all these tests on his arm, wrist, and chin - if a topical gives local decrease in body hair then I think he uses it to infer a decrease in DHT in that area where the topical was applied.

Ahh very interesting this could be great news for me, I recently won the most hairest award at work (body hair, forearms haha) I don't mind it but if finasteride can also decrease my body hair that would be awesome. Does everyone notice this or is it rare?

It's the paradoxical nature of the response of body hair and scalp hair to androgens: they stimulate the growth of body hair, but suppress the growth of scalp hair.

I have a bald spot on the front of my lower shin. Smooth as a baby's arse. I always thought it was from my Frye boots - but I haven't worn them in years. But that appeared way before I started on hair regrowth remedies.

Since I've been on dutasteride and finasteride - my facial growth isn't as heavy. I still have to shave every day, but my sideburns don't come in as fast. The last time I grew a beard - that took a lot longer to come in too.

I have a few bald spots on my legs as well, I think they are the effect of wearing jeans all my life. I don't wear tight jeans but the rubbing effect must be doing something.

I was on finasteride for couple months, and I thought my body hair and facial hair was becoming lighter as well... It's a shame I can't use finasteride, it would have solved two problems at once....

Yeah - I'm pretty sure the finasteride and dutasteride have helped me - but it's not like I'm a Norwood Zero (or even a 1 or a 2).

Somewhere not too long down the line I'm thinking of giving up the finasteride and dutasteride. For whatever little help I glean from them - I also unfortunately get all the neg. sides one can get. The fact that my beard takes forever to grow in these days doesn't bother me that much.

I have to remember to get that bald spot on my shin checked out. I'm in generally pretty good health - and the last few times I went to see the Dc - it never even dawned on me to bring it up. I'm a life-long jeans wearer too. Maybe that does have something to do w/ it.

Haha, if finasteride reduces my body hair too, that'd be great. I'm so lazy that I never want to shave. Good thing I don't have much of it to begin with. If this reduces it anymore I might never need to shave ever again. Woot.
