Better?
I didn't want to delve too much into this topic, but I just had to respond to this comment. Blissful ignorance huh? If you care so much about the welfare of the people in China, then let me ask you something, do you drive, have air conditioning, heater for the winter, eat pre-packaged food, have reliable plumbing, live in a single family detached house, use a lot of electricity, or in other words, are you a middle class north american citizen?
The fact of the matter is that the average north american uses
way more natural capital then they're supposed to. Compared to the people of China and India, we use about three times more resources than they do. If they were to live the exact same lifestyle we're living, then we would've already depleted all the earth's resources.
Now if you want to be moral like you claim, then do China/India and the rest of the world a favor by stop using up all the earth's resources. Kinda hard ain't it, especially if you're living in a suburban neighbourbood. You'll probably have to become amish if you truly care about those poverty stricken citizens in third world countries.
Kudos if you're not bowing down to the Wal-Mart philosophy.... but it's gonna be a lot harder than that to become truly moral.
