As I've always said: some hair is always better than no hair.
When did I realize this? When I started shaving my head completely after the top was all gone.
I immediately understood that even the horseshoe provides some framing to the face.
I've seen guy who were thin on top shave it all off all of a sudden, usually because of peer pressure: "what are you holding on to? Shave that sh*t off!"
And my first thought always was "damn, they looked better even with the thin messy NW3.5", even before I entered the world of hair loss. I thought "something is off now".
It's a way to eliminate the competition more quickly, just like women tell each other that their boyish hair cut looks sexy.
When people tell me "what's the point of your hair transplant? It's too thin/you still look like you're balding."
Well, looking like you're balding/thinning looks a million times better than having to sport the slybaldguy look.
