I somehow hit upon a brand called "Aubrey" that I like; they carry it in Vitamin Shoppe. I shower in the morning and use the Aubrey shampoo first, then Nizoral 1% on M/W/F and leave it on for 5 minutes before rinsing, then the Aubrey Jojoba conditioner at the end (all days). Combining this with tricomin spray at night has resulted in slow and steady gains over the past few years.
So far I am very pleased that I have actually seen results without going on either finasteride or minoxidil, just what i mentioned above and some modest supplements and tea etc. Nothing drastic of course, but I am more than happy with any movement in the positive direction!
Shampoo:
If you're serious about keeping your hair, I recommend Nizoral as your main shampoo, or Revita if you can afford it. Get 2% Nizoral if you can find it. Even the 1% Nizoral is better than most of the other alleged hairloss shampoos out there.
Bottom line you need an antiandrogen seeping into your scalp and sitting there for 5 minutes at least 2-3 times a week, and Nizoral and Revita has the most proven topical antiandrogen out there with Ketoconazole.
Conditioner:
For a conditioner I'm currently using Redken Extreme Conditioner. It's pricey, but a little goes a long way. It actually is proven to strengthen and widen hair shafts and people report results. For a cheaper alternative, you might try Avalon Organics Biotin B-Complex Thickening Conditioner, it's cheap and gives you Saw Palmetto extract and Biotin, which is an antiandrogen + root protection.
