Well yeah, I dont believe people who do this are deep down emotionally crippled, but they must have some slight degree of a problem to feel the need to have to exhibit their superiority in the first place.
Of course, there is no absolute answer. But in Western societies such behaviour is often being rewarded. It is not the hard working, humble person who gets the promotion but the ruthless guy who manages to impress his superiors by his attitude. I have read such studies again and again.
Same with women. Nice guys finish last.... As I wrote, a few times the guy used to humiliate me in front of a female to show her how much power he had. One would expect that a normal woman (or girl back then) would have been disgusted by his behaviour and obvious lack of character. But they weren´t. I could read on their faces that they were flattered how he was trying to impress them. I am sure these girls weren´t exceptions.
Ironically, this often gets back at them later when they are being abused by their boyfriends. Then you can hear the whining about "evil men" who mistreated them, ignoring that they themselves choose this type of man over the shy guy with a good heart. :jackit:
