homepathy as im sure its been said in here is an utter load of crap.

The principle is ridiculous, and no homeopathic remedy for anything has ever conclusively been shown to be any better than a placebo.

The way it supposedly works contradicts the laws of physics!

It wont save your hair.

Yep, and the FDA is a real honest bunch. So let's put our faith into products the FDA put their stamp of approval on because a company invests millions on the get that "Evaluated by the FDA" on their label. I don't think it's so black and white. Don't be ignorant.

I tend to believe in the old maxim, use proven treatments first. Anything else is really just hope in a bottle.

finasteride and minoxidil are proven treatments because they do work and they have evidences to back it up.

Hi Guys,

Sorry its taken a while for me to post a reply. I was on holidays and was in different countries. Anyways now I'm back I thought I'd add a little more to the discussion.

As I've made it clear in my previous posts I'm not here to prove Homeopathy works and other medicines dont! All I am interested in is passing my experience that after years of therapy on Propecia/minoxidil (which can I say again worked!) I was forced to give up due to the negative side effects. Homeopathy helped me to stop hair loss completely without the negative side, and now I am slowing recovering from my side effects.

For some reason, the people here that comment against Homepathy think this discussion is there to promote REPLACEMENT of existing treatment which is utter non sense! All I did was merely suggest what worked for me because I was fed up with the negative side effects of propecia.

Without going too much into science of Homepathic Remedies or prescription drugs, I can say for one I have met a lot of patients who go to the same homepathic doctor as me. Many of their relations (either father, mother, husband etc) is a Alopathic Doctor which begs the question as to why on earth would they come to a Homeopath if it really is utter nonsense. On the other hand Alopathy is driven by multi-billion dollar drug companies, politically this represents a large chunck of a Country's economy. Now who in a position of power would be brave to try and close down these companies or act against their interests? However because our bodies are so complex it is easy to show some evidence something will not work. The only ones with financial capital to really carry out this are these drug companies. Old saying still holds true...if you cant beat em' join em.

Anyways thats my 2 cents.

Homeopathy not HOMO-pathy, sha'mon

Hey mkul822,

This is my first post, have been creeping on this website for about a year and your post actually inspired me to register,lol..

I have heard good things about Homeopathy as well.. I have a few questions if you could help me out:

1. Will Homeopathy still be effective if your still using finasteride?
2. And what Homeopathic medicines do you use? I did some research and the ones I think can help me are Silicea and Kali Carbonicum... what do you use and whats the dosage you use??

thanks

Hi "that_dude",

I'm happy to answer your question. From your first question, I'm assuming you are currently on finasteride, if I might ask how long have you been on it? Has it helped? Are you suffering from sides?

Getting back to your question, I posed this to my homeopath. He said if you were to choose a remedy.....stick with one. The reason for this is......homeopathy will strive to bring your body back to an optimal equilibrium (where your genes have led you to some genetic deficiency).

finasteride on the other hand works by inhibiting the conversion of testosterone to DHT, decreasing the levels of DHT in the blood and scalp. However doing this you are harming the body's natural response to it being in the state of disequilibrium. In other words let me give you an example, when you have fever your temperature shoots up. Why? The reason is the naturals process of the body to eliminate the infecting bacteria to increase the temperature of your body to a state where "bad bacteria" can no longer survive. You may feel discomfort however this is your body's way of getting rid of the problem and bringing it back to equilibrium. These days most modern medicines treat this fever by supressing you body's natural process....so the temperature reduces....you feel more comfortable however what you dont know is the "bad bacteria" is thriving. Eventually it will go however when it returns the next time, the "bad bacteria" is even stronger. Thats why you'll notice people on prescription drugs are generally very prone to all sorts of diseases as there body struggles to recover on its own.

Lets face it, if you look at how finasteride was discovered, it wasn't intended for hairloss. It was intended for treating patients with enlarged prostate. Accidently they found it aiding recovery of lost hairs. Let me reiterate it is still not comletely understood how this whole process works, thats why its taking soooo long to find a cure.

So essentially they work in different ways so stick to one....not both at the same time.

Anyway enough ranting from me....do your research, talk to a few experts and I'm sure you'll come to a rational conclusion.

To your second question, the medicines in homeopathy are really on an individual basis, depending on your history....condition....etc. This determines the type and strength of the medicines. Generally the medicines are also changed depending on the progress made. But for interest sakes I was given medicines named "Hell 200" (great name I know); "Fl Acid 200" and few others I cant remember off the top of my head.

Anyways I hope this helps.....
