Deadly new flu virus in the US now:

A deadly strain of flu never seen before has killed as many as 61 people in Mexico and has spread into the United States, where several people were reported ill.
The CDC said it is on the loose in the US, too late to contain.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/us_flu;_ylt= ... FkbHlzd2k-

Its too early yet, but whats happening in Mexico is very worrisome.

It sounds pretty deadly so far in Mexico. Schools are all shut down and they have considered basically shutting down Mexico City and declaring a state of emergency, but the CDC has told them to hold off on that for now(inside info). Its killed 60+ out of about 800+ known cases. Normally flu only kills about 0.1% of those infected. If this lethality continues and it spreads, we are in for another pandemic ala 1918 Spanish flu that killed about 50-100 million people worldwide, or about 1/20 to 1/40 of the global population.

Another interesting fact about the Mexico outbreak is that its killing otherwise healthy adolescent to middle aged people - people who generally dont die from flu - This is another frequent characteristic of serious pandemics. Its usually the very young, the old, and the immunosuppresed who die from the less deadly common flu strains.

I just heard about it on the radio the other day. Now I found it online at forums.

I wonder how long people are sick for, the ones who recover.
Even if you don't die from it, you'd have to stay home and give it to your family so you don't spread it at work. That much time off from work could be crushing during these economic times.

So far it has about a 10% kill rate, at least in mexico.
Since it is a virus, anti-biotics will not help. I wonder if any anti-viral drugs given to aids patients would help fight the flu. Tempted to order me some from inhouse.

The CDC discusses many flu cases. Hard to tell which are swine flu and which are normal, since they could not fully sequence some of them. But the first 5 listed had a recovery time of 10 days. Maybe they were normal flu.

Well folks, it looks like the great cull has begun!

Head for the hills, lest you want your body ending up as fertilizer!

lol.... on a more serious note, I did watch this documentary talking about the expansion of humanity, the self-regulation of animal populations on earth, and viruses. This documentary laid out the case that as the human population grows, we become increasingly vulnerable to disease epidemics of increasing morbidity. Basically, the "melting pot" where viruses have their perfect habitat for genetic evolution are the tropics... where you have high numbers of different kinds of species of animals and plants all living in close proximity to each other. This environment allows viruses to pass around different species and genetically perfect their characteristics to invade new hosts.

As the human population becomes larger, and becomes more mobile, the "string of dominoes" needed for a virus to get from the "melting pot" areas to the broader population of humans on the whole gets a WHOLE lot shorter.

It is resistant to two anti-viral meds, but susceptible to two others:
susceptible to oseltamivir (Tamiflu) and zanamivir (Relenza)

It prevents infected cells from breaking open and releasing virus particles before the imune system can destroy the cell.

http://www.unitedpharmacies.com/custome ... ng=Relenza
It is an inhaler that inhibits the viral enzyme that allows virus particles to release from the dead cell and spread. With the enzyme inhibited, they stay stuck to the cell and can't spread.

As we all know about finasteride, most drugs don't do their enzyme inhibiting 100%. 50% is considered nice. I don't know how effective these are.

Not saying anyone should panic or go get this stuff. Might have side effects. Call a doctor and ask about it.

I read on wikipedia that most outbreaks of the past were not bad at all. There is an outbreak every year, and not bad. In 1918, and outbreak killed 500,000 americans, including a proportionate number of young adults, and 50,000,000 people world wide. I wonder how that compares to regular flu each year. 500,000 might not be a big number.

Regardless, if you don't die, you don't get super bad symptoms. You recover in 10 days usually. Some people still stock pile those drugs anyway.

It's OBVIOUSLY one of these three situations:

Scenario 1) This virus is the start of the great cull, the Rockefeller/Kissingerian plan to dramatically decrease human population on the planet.

Scenario 2) This virus is a pretext for the government to get us all to let them inject us with something. Maybe its some sort of drug, maybe a nanotech device, or maybe something else.

Scenario 3) This virus is a pretext that will allow the government to ban public gatherings, keep people off the street, and keep people in their homes... presumably in preparation for a dramatic geopolitical event that is imminent.

Fight the power. Stock up on canned foods and ammo, and lots of water. Keep your pets indoors, and secure. You may have to eat them.

I've narrowed it down to two people who might be behind it.

These exotic viruses do keep popping up over the last couple of years (!)

Who stands to profit, I'm placing my money on big pharma... One of the most soulless entities on this planet. See below.

"Deerfield, Illinois-based pharmaceutical company Baxter International Inc. has just been caught shipping live avian flu viruses mixed with vaccine material to medical distributors in 18 countries. The "mistake" (if you can call it that, see below...) was discovered by the National Microbiology Laboratory in Canada. The World Health Organization was alerted and panic spread throughout the vaccine community as health experts asked the obvious question: How could this have happened?"

Not the first time this has happened either.

If you are interested in more info google Codex alimentarius...

The UN report reads like it was written by a cold blooded psychopath, it about controlling the food supply, banning natural herbs and medicine and doing a way with the labels on food, so when they bring GM altered food in you won't be able to choose not to eat it.

Nothing gets the media wetter than a "we're all doomed" (Captain Mainwaring) story. Excitement barely contained as they report on the latest threat to civilization as we know it. 'Twas the same with Avian flu, new variant CJD (should've killed 500,000 in Britain by now), the credit crunch (different kind of apocalypse that one), and even with how they cover climate change.

The Swine flu is not that deadly:
http://www.latimes.com/features/health/ ... 6923.story
As the World Health Organization raised its infectious disease alert level Wednesday and health officials confirmed the first death linked to swine flu inside U.S. borders, scientists studying the virus are coming to the consensus that this hybrid strain of influenza -- at least in its current form -- isn't shaping up to be as fatal as the strains that caused some previous pandemics.

In fact, the current outbreak of the H1N1 virus, which emerged in San Diego and southern Mexico late last month, may not even do as much damage as the run-of-the-mill flu outbreaks that occur each winter without much fanfare.

If Obama tried to force americans to get a vaccine for the swine flu, would you let them inject you? I read that parts of africa that got the most small pox vaccine also have the most AIDS. I also read that some vaccines sent by our companies to europe were found by canadian labs to have full strength virus in them. The companies said they did not know how that mistake occured, but some people think they are trying to up the demand for more vaccine.

People in Massachusetts might not have a choice though. The senate there voted unanimously to to give the governor the authority to declair martial law and send agents into people's homes to make sure propper epidemiology procedures are followed to stop the spread of the disease.

68 cases in america and obama is asking for 1.5 billion dollars.

Masks are only useful for reducing how many water droplets an infected person spreads.

If you are a healthy person, it is likely the water particles will be too small to get filtered. Might not help much. But specially fitted, NANO masks are needed if you want more protection. A better move is to not let people cough on you, rather than trust a mask.

Either way, it does seem that mexicans are more susceptible to it than americans are.
