Hepatic = to do with the liver.

A quick google of finasteride and liver suggests that they do suggest caution using finasteride if you have a pre-existing liver condition. I don't know where your doctor pulled the fact that it can cause liver problems from though....

If you have liver problems, YES, thats why it is recommended to have a liver enzyme test before if you have had previous conditions or a family history
