their hair's sensitivity then.

have you ever heard of "old man strength"?

What I am saying is there are many things that are different between a 20yr old and a 50yr old. It does not make sense that the main difference between them is increased sensitivity to Androgens esp when both groups were castrated and thus had same levels of absent hormones for a long time. There is a lot we still do not know about WHY Androgens suddenly become a problem. Increased sensitivity does not really explain the whole story, especially where age is concerned. I know that study is quoted a lot on here.

I wouldn't doubt other factors/ differences either like simply old cells. But I don't see why sensitivity can't be a part of it either. Tolerance and sensitivity apply to almost everything in life to a certain extant. Old guys also get prostate cancer and you know what is used to treat that... Antiandrogens

Anti androgens are used for androgen dependent prostate cancer. Not all prostate cancer requires androgens and androgens do not always cause prostate cancer. There are other factors that make androgens an issue, same with hair loss. It most likely has to do with the cell programming, something unrelated to hormones or sensitivity to hormones. This is why stem cell regeneration is being looked into for hair loss. This also probably explains why older men lose their hair more easily.

Hormones affect cell programming though. Also the prostate and scalp are sources of 5ar, so even with lower overall systematic T levels, androgenic activity is greatly amplified in specific locations.

Is there any evidence that 5ar expression is increased with aging , to support the theory that by having lower T, the 5ar is stronger making more DHT to compensate?

not that im aware of. but it could just be sensitivity increasing with age rather than levels.
