Don't know why I'm losing hair or what to do

Hi,

I'm getting significantly more hairfall in my comb and brush, even when putting oils in my hair with my fingers.
When I have my hair tied up in a ponytail there are significantly more shorter hairs sticking up from my dome.
No matter how I tie my hair or play with the top I can see my scalp if I look close enough and it's very noticable under bright light.
I can also see my scalp through my hairline, just above my forehead.

I have no idea why this is happening, what to do, or who to ask. Only speculation.

The people I've asked for help basically have a laugh about it, or say that it's imaginary, or give stupid advice like "wear a hat" or "shave your head."

Online is worse -- It's a jumble of garbage that's unverifiable and contradictory. E.g. Tieing your hair up causes damage, but it also doesn't cause damage...

I'm terrified of doing anything with my hair, brushing, oils, tying it up etc. Because I don't know what's going on, or what will make it worse.

I also don't have a doctor because I know what will happen if I try to visit a random GP. "No magic cure" or something along those lines, when I know there are meds that can potentially help.

To visit a dermatologist, I also need a referral from a GP. I don't know what to do.

I've actually never been on a date before, and really want to find someone to be with. Another thing where I don't know what to do and struggling for help with but abandoned. I'm terrified that becoming bald will significantly reduce my chances. I can't live alone and in constant pain until I fall off the wagon, I'm not that sort of person.

Speculation I have so far:
-Swimming in the sea then briefly rinsing the salt water off with a beach shower.
-Sun damage (over the holidays).
-Foolishly put sunscreen in hair (over the holidays) and was difficult to wash out.
-New hair product (on recommendation) to potentially guard against sun damage, Garnier Fructis, repairing papaya hair food.
-Went without oils for a week or two after getting papaya hair food.
-Changed hair oil from Anko coconut and almond treatment oil (norish and hydrate) to Anko honey and orange blossom treatment oil (rejuvenate and volumise) after getting papaya hair food.
-Brushing.
-Tying it up.
-Running fingers through hair to apply oils.
-Sea breeze.
-Increased sweat in scalp, hotter nights over holidays.
-Change in diet, I've completely cut out sugar, soy, and highly processed foods.

Huh? Why dairy?
Hey, what's going on with my hair?
What do I do?

"Three items have been shown to decrease GLA – wheat, dairy, and trans fats – through inhibition of an enzyme called D6D."

Ok. Why doesn't he just link the studies?
I don't suppose you have the studies on hand?
Thanks.

I'm actually Italian (so pasta with cheese on top). So that, right there; is the equivalent of saying it's the town's water causing it... :|

If it is wheat and dairy, why would it manifest now and not sooner?

"-Emu oil. 1-2 times a day. One of the only proven items I’ve come across that increases skin and hair DNA synthesis, with studies showing hair regrowth."

Big W has an emu oil moisturiser for $3.50...
It's not marketed as increasing hair growth.

Just twice a day, on the spot and problem solved...? It sounds too good to be true.

nope don't have it personally and don't know why he didn't link. Usually he does on his youtube channel.

I followed his routine and recovered 90% of my hair so far. More than happy to send you some photos as example.

from my experience emu oils are helpers but the real changer is the keto cream.

While looking up the efficacy of ketoconazole cream I found the studies that show overwhelming results for a combination of finasteride and minoxidil by comparison.

THAT, is what I need access to. I know you're just trying to help. But I can't make a mistake here. To me; this is life savings medication.

And to get it I need a way to get past the gatekeepers, the GPs that won't want to help.

For example, if I do select a random GP what do I even say to them? What would get them to help?

None of those things have caused your hair loss. Hair loss is linked to pubertal increases in testosterone and increasing age in general. If any of those listed things caused baldness, we would see many, many people make full recoveries just by stopping such practices. Vitamins only work if you are malnourished which essentially never happens in First World countries, to use a dated phrase.

Baldness and decreasing hair quality occur within the follicle and it's growing system. Except for lessening inflammation with a dandruff shampoo or anti-fungal shampoo, there is little or nothing that can be done externally to cause hair loss or to relieve it.

there is no study on keto cream... for hair growth only keto shampoo. That itself is a major difference.

Speaking from personal experience and experience from others. It's either the same level as minoxidil or even better.

How do I know for sure that say, for example, swimming in the sea hasn't increased inflammation?

For me, it basically strips it dry and to straw. Same thing with shampoo. Is that possibly related?

How do I even test for some sort of inflammation?

Malnutrition might actually be a possibility. I've been eating bare minimum, skipping meals, to lose weight and be more attractive. And when I get hungry, I find the feeling goes after a while. Like, when I wake up in the morning, I know I should feel hungry, but I don't.

So also, how do I test for malnutrition?

I should correct my statement in that I don't think any of those things directly cause hair loss but it's possible that they could change the ph of the scalp and thereby perhaps facilitate over-runs of p. acnes and malassezia fur fur. If you take a multi-vitamin, it's highly doubtful that you are malnourished. Virtually everyone starts taking vitamins when they first notice hair loss. I did. Usually it is biotin and other B-vitamins that most of us already have enough of but vitamins won't hurt either and it's one fewer complicating factor to worry about.

I found an article about possible ph changes from changes in water density:

#2. ACV is mildly acidic

"Apple cider vinegar has a pH level of 2-3, which is considered mildly acidic. Interestingly, when it comes to acidity versus alkalinity, there’s evidence that parts of our skin actually favor an acidic environment for health. And in this regard, ACV might have some therapeutic benefit. Here’s how this might relate to our hair.

As a refresher, ceramides are the building blocks of our epidermis (i.e., the outermost layer of our skin). If our ability to produce ceramides is impaired, our skin barrier begins to break down. This leads to dermal dehydration, dandruff, inflammation, and a host of other problems that may partly contribute to hair loss.

Interestingly, studies show that the production of ceramides only occurs at an acidic pH (9). Thus, our epidermis must remain in a slightly acidic state for those tissues to produce ceramides and maintain skin barrier functionality.

On that note, a shift toward an alkaline environment seems to have negative impacts on our hair health. For instance, studies show that alkaline hair shafts are frizzier, more damaged, and more prone to breakage (11).

There are many factors that can create a more alkaline environment in our scalp skin. Two common culprits: (1) harsh surfactants in shampoos, and (2) mineral deposits in shower water.

We’ll dive into how surfactants and hard water can disrupt skin barrier health in a future article. For now, just know that acetic acid – or apple cider vinegar – might be useful in combatting a shift toward alkalinity. In doing so, its application might help promote the production of ceramides, restore skin barrier health, and thereby improve our hair.

Again, without a clinical study, we just don’t know."

Here is a second article related to the role of vitamins in hair loss:

I don't know if this forum doesn't like new members posting links or not, but it's called...
"Comparative efficacy of various treatment regimens for androgenetic alopecia in men"
...on PubMed.
Should be easy to find, but I can link in a PM if you wish.

A combination of finasteride and minoxidil... Millions of successful users around the world. THAT is what I want access to. Ketoconazole doesn't have anything like that. Betting all chips on keto sounds like a mistake.

Perhaps, yours was something else and helped with ketoconazole. Hopefully I've something similar to that. I just wish I could do some sort of test and know for certain what's going on. Regardless, thank you very much.

finasteride/min all funded by big pharma so have the money to publish studies like this.

I've linked this photo and will most likely be my last time

It took him a few months to fix his balding out based on the article i sent you. I don't think I've seen any finasteride & minoxidil give results like this on someone so severely bald. The OP confirmed himself balding genetics. Once he had finished he stopped taking keto cream and still kept what he had. It wasn't just keto cream it was other topicals but none of them were minoxidil or finasteride.

Best of luck with Rogaine and finasteride.

There were a lot of light bulb moments in those articles. Like, all the pieces definitely fit.

Both shampoo and yes, even water tend to basically sunder my hair. I'll have the wet look for a bit, but then it all turns to straw.

This "hair food" that I bought could very well be intended to put minerals into my hair, the sea certainly has a lot of minerals too.

Both sundering and becoming more alkaline.

Alkaline hair also "breaks" which would explain an increase in shorter hairs popping up from my dome when I tie my hair back.

It does seem that I'm resorting to these Anko hair oils quite a lot. And an overproduction of skin bacteria can result in the bacteria basically eating the natural oils that the scalp secretes for your hair.

That could very well be what's happening. And UV basically making the bacteria worse... Yeah, I got horribly burnt during the holidays and my head was uncovered.

Ketoconazole does seem like something I should try. Anti bacterial and fungal -- Anti inflammatory. I did manage to find a product here that has it called Sebizole, I'll buy that and try.

Is there an improved version of apple cider vinegar? One that doesn't have a chance to over produce a bacteria but restores hair acidity. Or, should I just stick with the Anko hair oils?
