I asked a seller on ebay if he could please supply a tracking number and this was his response ... weird.

Scammers and a-holes are pretty much one and the same to me. Id be cautious of this guy.

Anyone recommend an honest seller who has good products?

He looks like a trustworthy seller to me. Awesome feeback rating. I would buy from him in a heartbeat.

In my experience a lot of sellers are A-Holes. Being an eBay seller is hell. No such thing as a day off and buyers are unreasonable.

There was a time where you could buy feedback on ebay LOL! Dont know if that is still going on though. Asking for a tracking number isnt being unreasonable in any way.

Damn, I'd tell him to put it in a plastic bag and shove it up his ***. It's one thing to think it, another to say it. Don't see any reason for that kind of response unless there's more to the story...

Cassin,

Sounds like you have been there, done that.

Yeah I am a tad bitter right now.....

I was selling something time sensitive recently and within the last minute some idiot with zero feedback swooped in and screwed up my sale by making a bogus bid. Cost me a nice sum and it takes far too long to resolve anything on eBay. I will never allow a new eBayer to buy something off me again, I will always block them.

I rarely sell stuff but I do from time to time unload something.

I just ordered from them last night and was automatically emailed a tracking number about 7 hours later.

i was shocked as well

a few other guys who are selling wrote back very polite responses ... i just dont get douchebags. I guess I expect to get back the same respect that I give to strangers. To make it that much more bizarre is the fact hes the seller. You would think he has more of biz mind and would respond in a polite manner. Asking if he provides tracking numbers is not to much to ask IMO - its my $ after all.

F that guy. I'll spend an extra $5 in another estore with someone who is professional.

Well if you asked him that AFTER you bought the item, he has every reason to be pissed..... I hate the assholes who buy stuff from me and THEN ask questions and then find a reason why they cant pay me....

I'm with ya brother. Especially when I write a paragraph begging people to "double check my list before buying"... "ask me any questions"..and I ALWAYS answer email within a few hours.

blah blah blah.

Cassin (or anyone else) - what would you consider the lowest feedback rating with which you'd transact on eBay? I enjoy old-school (real film!) photography and a seller has an old Nikon lens that I like. He has 96% positive feedback on only 50 transactions. The two negatives are pretty darn negative.

Without knowing his ID, I would have to say be cautious. Two Neg in only 50 transactions seems a bit too high, especially if you are considering a high dollar item. You always have PP to fall back on, but who needs the hassle.

Well, look at the feeback of the person who left negative feedback and see if they leave a lot of negatives. Some people are simply unreasonable.

But once they get into the hundreds I typically will not do business with anyone below like 98.5 or has had a flurry of recent bad transactions.

If you want, pm me the persons link and I will give you my opinion?

Well, I had a bad eBay experience. An item (>$150) I bought from a reputable seller arrived and it was not at all as described. Was advertised as "excellent" and came to me as "fair" or worse, in need of an expensive professional cleaning/partial rework. I'm disappointed but have asked for a refund. Hopefully he'll make good.

I should add that this is my first bad experience on eBay....unfortunately it was also my biggest purchase.

Ugh totally pissed. Here's his response:

"The camera was as represented. there were no ding or dents. But, if you want you can send it back and when it is recieved your money less the shipping will be refunded."

It's not the shipping fee that I'm so mad about (although I feel I shouldn't be responsible for it), but the item's condition. What a joke!

Just file with PayPal, worse case, he make a full refund including shipping, you only pay for return shipping. Just file "not as described".

BTW...is this the same guy I told you to be cautious with???

No, this guy has over 200 positives and only 1 negative. I don't think it was an intentional initial misrepresentation - just a careless one from which he won't now back down. The prism is bulged/dented out on the right side, the foam light seals are disintegrated, bits of trash are floating around in the viewfinder, and there are numerous small scratches and overall wear and tear. The guy also left a roll of half-exposed film in it. Just an overall disappointment...and the guy is still telling me that it's in excellent condition.

Thanks for the tip on Paypal - forgot about that. If things sour I will definitely look into it.

HWGA,

If conventional dispute resolution methods fail, you can always stick a screwdriver up his ***.
