that something hasnt been studied yet to prove it has an effect doesnt mean it wont have an effect. do you think that finasteride didnt work until the fda waved their magic wand and deemed it work? would it not have worked if merck never funded a study which know that it works?

A cure? Add it to the ever growing list of things that theoretically should help with hair loss and some of them even have some small studies supporting they help. The list would literally be 20+ supplements and topicals which you can go broke trying many combinations. Its another thing you can try but not a cure.
For the record a cure would mean a way to stop male pattern baldness forever or to completely regrow all your hair like Norwood 5 to Norwood 0 straight teenage hairline. This is not proven to be either of these so its not a cure.

stopping male pattern baldness completely long term (> 5 years because that's what finasteride gives) is definitely possible using equol at high doses.... check out the prostate studies, this stuff is REALLY good at blocking DHT

a hell of a lot better than **** like beta sitosterol lol

i just placed my order for my first month.

if a cure means stopping forever then short of genetic engineering or direct biological stem cell based intervention, or hair cloning of non minuaturized hairs it is not possible. those things are on their way with at least 3 or so companies that have posted good progress and some in the clinical testing. just gotta maintain what you have till then. not to mention start your fund to save up for those treatments. cotsarelis is right next door to me at the university of pennsylvania lol

Shouldn't you try this long term? One month will not be good enough right?

I really hope it works!

In for a penny, in for a pound...What the hell, right now there is nothing else to grab onto and my thinning is getting bad...I need to stop it now...I'll get 6 months worth and dose up heavy for the first few weeks...then back off...sound like a good idea??

Did you see the price of this?? Way more expensive than Folexen

Well I haven't bothered to compare prices per mg...but keep in mind there are other ingredients in this product. I also haven't looked for the cheapest price for this one...did see one around $50 though.

Here's the one I was referring to: http://www.pureformulas.com/prostizine-with-equol-60-vegetable-capsules-by-deseret-biologicals.html I'm on their email list and I'm positive they've sent out discount codes or whatever here and there.

About $0.05 more per mg than the Folexen capsules...I included my shipping costs...4 month supply is about $50 more than Folxen...

How about with 15% off? Just checked my emails..it expires the 24th.

Even w/out the discount....you have to keep in mind the other ingreds. They're not a bad list of ingreds either imo.

- - - Updated - - -

There's another he mentioned that I found the correct spelling for  ..made by the same company: http://chiroevolution.com/prostizine.pdf

That one contains 6mg per capsule. And of course..other ingreds. Some claim side-effects from SP etc..but there's always the other product.

Actually there's not a whole lot of SP in it..just 100mg..then the other goodies...hmmmm...
I don't see it at Pureformulas..but I've sent an email to see if they'll carry it.

well, I'm already in with Folexen but other sources are always good to have....It seems like there is a lot promise with this and I hope so -- DHT is overtaking me like effin crazy...After 4 months I should at least feel a difference...If it works to at least halt, I am not going to sweat the money so much....

Is this s-equol or whatever it's called? It's also important that you guys understand that anything sold locally in Australia is expensive. The minimum 18+ year old wage in Aus is something like $15 an hour, on top of that you have Super contributions so it pushes it up even further.

yep, i saw it a few days ago actually. price was way more expensive. probably the addition of the other ingredients made it more expensive. folexen is cheaper.

I'm assuming with the discount the price is pretty close then? Guess I'll figure it out later. Not sure about the second product..how much Pureformulas would sell it for etc.

So you didn't post it because....?

It's not "way more" expensive though(I still haven't even searched for the best price...for both products)..and the other ingreds are a bonus.

look how many other benefits equol seems to have:

  • Equol decreased body weight by 5-10%
  • Equol breaks down white fat (increasing lipolysis & decreasing lipogenesis)especially in the abdominal/pelvic region by 35-50% (NON-ESSENTIAL FAT!)
  • Equol increases metabolic hormones (T3 by 60% & UCP-I by 2-fold)
    AND decreases leptin levels
  • Equol increases locomotor behavior where animals are more active

we don't need those other ingredients though

Ok...either I suck at math more than I thought..or the one I posted above, with the 15% off..is much cheaper per mg. than Folexen. I used the online currency converter...used 5 bottles of Folexen(2.5 mg per capsule- 100 caps per bottle-AUD 33) for a bit of a discount w/out having to buy (it seems) a case...and added the shipping. The EquolSlim(4.5 mg per capsule- 60 caps per bottle-$50.32 w/out the discount) I used the 15% discount with free shipping.

I'm not even going to post my results.....since the way ppl are talking Folexen should be much cheaper LOL... :sulkoff:

Could someone tell me I'm right...or tell me to stick to Googl'n....would appreciate it

No..but some..if not all... are good for us anyway.
Those product links point out quite a few benefits of equol.

BTW..I LOVE how this new forum software updates the posts automatically..w/out creating a whole new post.

.

The point I'm making is that if this stuff at least halts or slows down my loss, I am not going to be too concerned over 10 or 20 bucks either way...in the long run, sure, maybe, but its not like there is a huge difference in price...for a 6 month trial, it's all in the same ballpark for me
