Hi people!

I've been taking finasteride for 5 months now, along with minoxidil and nizoral, all the required amounts each day and week. Though I've had a little hiccup, which I hope won't affect me. I'm actually quite worried. After taking finasteride for 5 months, just last week, I felt alittle depressed, fearful, edgy, breathing differently, and not being able to expand the mind like normal. It's just strange because throughout the 5 months it's been fantastic, and I've noticed results, and had full health, mentally, physcologically and emotionally. I eat healthy, fish, meat, vegetables, fruit, green tea/black tea coffee and so forth.

One of my questions is that the last batch of finasteride was from a different chemist and was a slighty different tablet... Since starting the new batch from a new chemist.. I'm getting these side effects.. I went to the doctor only yesterday, and she said that if you get the normal 'Propecia' that come in 1MG tablets, it could work better? Does anyone have a similar experience or any advise.. ? The finasteride im taking now is from a brand called 'finasta'... It's obviously a substitute from propecia, having the same ingredients...

I'd like to hear what you guys have to say. Already been so helpful.. I'm just hoping to continue on my intake. One thing I thought about doing was taking the propecia every second day, so the affects aren't as bad.. Just surprised after 5 months to have these side effects.. It was perfect before this..

Re: finasta, finasteride, propecia, proscar

I just found out from the pharmacist that the finasta is a new brand for finasteride, and it's been on the market for 7 months. So I'm getting a refund and going back to the proscar brand. I had no problems being on the proscar.

Hey guys,

Sorry to be so negative about proscar... What I've done now is lowered the dosage of both proscar to around .60 every day and using only 1ML of Minoxidil twice a day (.5 each) and noticing little side effects. I think I can gradually work my way up to a better level, but I'll be interested to see the results in a few months. I think lowering the dosage is fine, I've spoke to the doctor about it, and as I was on the Big 3, full use for 5 months, it's already in my system, so I'm just maintaining it and adding smaller increments day by day. I have been happy with my hair growth.. Great regrowth, just shocked to get the side effects after 5 months straight with no sides.. Back in working order.. I think if u have sides.... lower the dosage immediately.. correct me if im wrong, im talking from my own experience:) As we are different sizes, weights, genetics and so forth... work with it, no against it.. Good luck!!

Hmmm. Answering your own questions.

Your lack of focus etc can actually be as a result of minoxidil. Minoxidil will actually give you chest pains and headaches. Lowering blood pressure can actually result in nausea as well.

I would stick to Merck finasteride at the moment. Some people have used a variety of generic finasteride but with no sides. Everyone is different. I believe the coating of the generic finasteride is much different to propecia and proscar. All it may mean is the absorption may be much faster or less, depending on the individual.
