Same thing happened to me. Went on Finasteride and minoxidil to stop the progression at the hairline and 5 months later I have thinning hairs across my entire head which had previously been very dense and healthy. So now Im fucked everywhere in addition to the hairline. Lots of members suggest to “stick with it” for at least 12 months but there doesn’t seem to be too many (if any) stories of guys who’ve jumped on this, shed in a diffuse pattern and then recovered.

I was 45 when I started 5 months ago. I turned 46 last month. Before May of this year I was a 1.5 at worst. I’d just started battling an AA flare up on the back of my head when my right temple started thinning rapidly. My AA patch which grew 4 inches by 4 inches from the nape if my neck has now grown in completely. Originally i thought the temple was another AA patch but then my left temple started to recede (right is still far worse than the left). Waited until July before jumping on finastetide as the receding was not slowing down. 6 weeks after starting the big 3 I posted here for the first time and the average opinion put me at about Norwood 2.5. Now Five months in I’d put myself at 3v with diffuse thinning throughput. I’ve been telling myself for about 6 weeks that this is part of the treatment and that it will get better but I’m only seeing more thinning on top in addition to the hairline moving back slowly but surely. Not sure what to think anymore but everything seems to have excelerated dramatically since starting. Still not completely convinced this is not an autoimmune response since it came on the heels of my AA.Curious how old were you when you started and what was the state of your hair? Norwood?
