Maybe not rainbows but some glimmer of hope, which Dr. Cot seemed to readily extinguish.

I have always had a lot of faith in Follica - Because there has been lately a lot of research in skin regeneration with follicles in it through inducing wound. FGF-9 seemed promising too. For me , the most disheartening thing is the stalling of research.

And research by Follica would be covered by patents, i guess. So no one else can take it and build on it. Cots said 10 year minimum - i guess he was assuming that the research continues from now on , if it is stalled , it means >10 years..may be 15 years till its treatment comes. I hope we get something else in the next 10 years, a combination of several topical and treatments. I just do not no longer want to worry about my hair, may be some way i can replace every male pattern baldness prone follicle with male pattern baldness resistant one by using unlimited cloned male pattern baldness resistant hair or new follicle that is resistant to DHT.

On these congress we get just a dick in our mouth nothing more! Just blah, blah, blah!

I said it was foolish to pay for the guy to go. I said there will be no cures in the near future.

Follica is a farce. 2000 people paying $1000 would give them $2,000,000 and as others have mentioned, that is peanuts in the bio field. "Promising" is a word for trials that showed zero results but had no negative side effects.

Follics has nothing. There would be trillions of dollars made off a cure and they can't secure $2 mil in research money?

Forget Follica, these are the guys we should get behind and look forward:

Notice something in common? They all have male pattern baldness.

We have a thread on that already, a lecture was given on the hair conference and it was recorded. I will update the thread when Desmond gives us the link to the video.

Looks promising! The hair loss cure will be something like this and not by a pill.

A team in Singapore is working on that:

Here's Desmond original post:
Hey guys.

Today I have some more great news for you. I met up with a Singapore team who compared dermal papillae cells from balding to permanent zone of the scalp and found that transcriptosome differences may be responsible for androgen sensitivity of DP cells in the balding zone!

So I asked what's their solution to this problem? Would you have to use a retrovirus to correct these genetic differences (ie. Gene therapy)?

They pointed out that gene therapy is still 1-2 decades away and its safety is still very controversial. They hypothesised a different approach! Once they perform the genomics and proteomics studies they will hone in on the exact proteins needed to be blocked and simply by inhibiting protein synthesis they will stop androgen sensitivity in the balding scalp!

So in other words a permanent halt of hair miniaturisation! Don't forget that finasteride works in a similar manner per say by blocking a protein called 5 alpha reductase which converts testosterone to DHT. Their method will target a different protein which is responsible for telling DP cells to express androgen receptors which is detrimental to their health.

Timeline wise, they're hoping the proteomics should be conclouded in the next 2 years. Fascinating stuff.

She is emailing me a copy of her poster and I'll share it as soon as I get it

Ah sounds good to me. I hope these differences they found though actually turn out to be the cause of the problem, and stopping those proteins can stop hair loss completely. Thats a long jump with a lot of things that all have to work out, but its good at least someone is looking at it. Keeping hair is always going to be important even if hair loss gets cured someday it will always be cheaper to keep what you have left
Hopefully between either this or CB 03 01 for the first time in male pattern baldness it will be possible to stop male pattern baldness for most men for a very long time which would be than in a sense, a cure. Its going to be a long wait for more advanced stuff I think

How is it connected to the lack of progenitor cells, dkk1 and pgd2?

I dont know Im just referring to what Resu said right above me that Desmond said about that Singapore team .I have no idea on specifics as to how that works. Lets remember PGD 2 was very elevated in balding scalp verse non balding and so far I have not seen a working product from that. This could turn out to go nowhere like many other promising leads do

Great Vid! Dr. Cots looked a bit nervous when it came time to answer any questions lol
