So your results came in at 14months?

I had relatively long hair on 11th month so it's hard to say

@N003 had similar experience with fina when got regrowth after a year

Been on finasteride for over 13 years and according to some Norwood spotters here, I am maintaining well. I only will get regrowth if I add minoxidil. You are more likely to get regrowth with finasteride together with minoxidil. Finasteride is not considered a growth stimulant.

Beard grafts? Not enough and doesn't have a good track record

I think beard grafts will be more of an option in a couple of years.
By now, I have not seen enough good results. I would wait.
Apart from that, though, this thread is more precisely about finasteride.
I think the 90% success rate some users report is optimistic and reflects their bias of good responders.
I think you should take out from 90%:
- those who had gyno - ED - extra T
- those who had some good result in 6-12 months but then started going back again.

I think no more of 50% of balding men are saved by finasteride altogether.

I put myself in the "moderate regrowth" category even though I think my forelock density improved more than 10%. I started treatment as a NW2.5 with my forelock starting to visibly lose density, and I am now a pretty strong NW2: very good uniform density between forelock and rest of hair, and temple angles closing further and further in. I first noticed improvement at the 7 month mark on finasteride, but I continued to gradually improve and I think I may be still getting very gradual improvement (coming up on 2 years on treatment)

I agree with those stressing the importance of minoxidil as well if you actually want regrowth. finasteride can stop the damage (for those who it works) but it isn't going to stimulate those weakened follicles. Multi angle approach is best with this disease especially for those who have lost meaningful ground

I was a hypocrite to minoxidil, but it has by far exceeded my expectations. Monasteries vaulted and held my hair in a certain skinny state, which is fine! Bit minoxidil beefed my entire scalp and gave me moderate thicker hair.

I am a believer after 7 months

let us know how you're feeling after two years bro. (sh*t on your parade)

Where is the option for finasteride drastically speeding up your male pattern baldness and destroying your scalp? I put my vote there.

@buckthorn, any time I see you post my day always brightens up. Let's see some of those funny " buckyisms" you so cleverly come up with about yourself or sometimes direct at other posters. If you want a shot at me, I give you a free pass.

On hair transplant forums, people (and of course surgeons) will confidently tell you: "Before a hair transplant, you should take finasteride to stop your hair loss".

Stop your hair loss. Right. Didn't know the cure for hair loss was already there. If only, of course it's better to take it if you can tolerate it, but claiming it stops hair loss without any nuance or evidence is a step too far.

I have no idea if minoxidil is still doing something significant, but I keep using it for the same reason as you with finasteride. Without it, my situation would probably be worse. It has allowed me to sport a very thin crown instead of a completely slick bald crown for many years now. It's not much but we take anything we can get.
have you tried RU, this guy seems to do well with it and he's on roids. Seems to be a good AA for those who can't tolerate finasteride/dutasteride:

seen his videos but makes me wonder if he is using hair fibers! Whereas this youtuber named searching4sid has recently started ru and is on 12 week. I don’t notice much difference, lets see how things progress.

how do you know you weren't on your way there and it was only coincidence you took finasteride around the same time.
think how much worse it could have been if you didn't take it? These things are hard to call

I'm a bit skeptical to, his pics show 3 months, one month in Europe without RU and had a major shed, then 3 months later grew it all back.
I don't think hair falls out or grows that fast on serums
But I guess he does say he's hyper-responder or something.

hahha his comment was scary enough
Just wondering when one can expect results from finasteride or side in what time frame?

I think they say 3-6 months for early signs that something is working - but everyone is different. Some shedding may happen in that time, or loss will subside - then you need like a year to really judge effectiveness.

it's not hard to tell at all. I had relatively slow hair loss, about 60% density before taking it and ZERO scalp inflammation at 33 years old. I took it and over 10 months, I lost literally half of my hair, down to 30% (people have seen pics), and my scalp became inflammed to the point where I couldn't even sleep. I had burning, itching, crawling, and I still have it to this day. Started two months after taking it, and never stopped. If you need MORE evidence - my hair loss is the worst now in the places I had / have this inflammation. The crown, midscalp, front.

So, that's a coincidence? The moment I start taking this sh*t ALL OF THIS ^ happens to me. not hard to call at all.

I have nothing to worry about. You are on finasteride and you will shoot blanks or maybe if you are lucky some water.
