Genuinely worried for the first time, after using nizoral...

Well the reason I stopped nizoral was not because of increased shedding, rather it irritated my scalp and made me want to scratch it like crazy. And to me, that can only be bad for my hair, so I quit.

Yeah I agree that there are alot of stupid hairloss assumptions on here , BUT topical Nizoral is NOT proven to help with male pattern baldness inflammation nor is it proven to inhibit DHT.
It is however proven to help with dandruff inflammation by killing the fungus responsible for dandruff and promote hair grow by that mechanism in some people . IMO it should not recommend as a general hairloss treatment.
Oh and the leaflet from my ketoconazol bottle states that hairloss is a possible side effect

How is the inflammation different? Do you really know?

In some people? Well the studies have that keto and P-O help people that are thinning. Slick bald people will probably have no chance to grow hair on their baldspot anyhow.

Both P-O and Keto are shown to be mild anti-androgens. Wash your face with a P-O shampoo ED and you'll see it becomes quite dry.

Since you act like a smart person, you probably know what a shed is, and that a small shed is actually a good sign if one is starting a new treatment. Keto makes your hair thicker and thats usually the reason why you shed when you are undergoing treatment for hair loss.

keto makes your hair thicker ? That's BS.
Nearly Everything on this forum is claimed to be anti androgenic inluding Downy conditioner and green tea and flying poo and luke warm dog-piss
I was able to get rid of my dandruff , but my MBP inflammation persists since this day .
FYI I tried PO , keto and elubiol shampoos on my face for months for oil/acne testing without any noticeable effects on oil. It will dry out your face I give you that , but that has nothing to do with sebum reduction.
Sorry Nizoral is not a proven treatment for Alopecia.

Yea see that is what I feel too, anyone here on this forum actually used nizoral alone and had results? if it does what it says it does there must be at least ONE person who had results from it....comeon veteran users tell us what it's like!

There are studies showing that Pyrithione Zinc and Ketoconazole both have anti-androgenic properties when applied to the scalp.

There is a link floating around somewhere to a Japanese study (I think) showing pictures of men with male pattern baldness who used a ketoconazole cream (2%) and a few of them regrew a pretty substantial amount of hair.

The average person is not going to reverse their male pattern baldness with Nizoral, but even if it only slowed it down by, say, 10%, wouldn't that be worth it?

You have to shampoo your hair, and Nizoral is one of the best there is IMO.

Don't worry blize, you're not alone. I too won't touch propecia as i don't wanna mess with my hormones. Just remember, there are other options, like spironolactone.. which could very well help maintain what you got for a little while until something better (and safer) comes out! keep your head up.

Elvis, I ditched the nizoral as it really made my scalp itch and I couldn't take the feeling. Every time I would scratch it, lots of hair would come out, so I figured f it!

According to this source nizoral is a stimulant, anti inflammatry dht blocker and yeilds great results with prolonged use.

http://www.imgoingbald.com/2008/11/26/nizoral-and-hair-loss-prevention-proof/

If its a stimulant it might explain the shedding that occurs quickly but even then its bad. I have used nizoral on its own some time ago and abandoned it due to shedding. It made my hair shed worse than minoxidil but then again i think i over used it. Apparently this shedding is normal and common when first using nizoral and usually subsides after a few weeks of use.

I should note that nizoral if over used can dry the scalp. I assume that can only mean damaged hair and shedding. Furthermore nizoral should be rinsed out with conditioner. I believe not rinsing it out properly could be doing more harm than good and i think this is the reason some people's hair ends up looking worse. Lastly here's mention of a study with nizoral.

http://www.stophairlossnow.co.uk/products/Nizoral_Study.htm

Im not sure how to take that study from a site thats trying to sell nizoral products but they do give you the authors of the study and its title, meaning it can be found.

Is T gel shampoo as harsh as nizoral? do you think it helps with hairloss as well? because i read that Tgel shampoo has antiandrogenic properties as well

It great stuff. It stopped that male pattern baldness itch that i was getting on my scalp and makes it feel really refreshed after use. I would recommend it to people who cant tollerate nizoral.

I dont know how effective it is against male pattern baldness but i do know it may have some anti inflammatry properties that clean the scalp from sebum that can clog up in the follicles. I think anything that prevents inflammation can reduce hairloss so it propbably a great addition to have in your hairloss regimen.

Which T/Gel are you using ? The coal tar one or the non coal tar?

Coal tar. It stinks but the smell subsides quickly. You got to leave it on for several minutes though before you wash it off.
