Getting A Tan Without f*****g Up Your Skin

Mate, we don't even get sun in the UK so glad you're not worrying about over exposure lol. Yet a lot of people age badly here. Why? Genetics, pure English bred usually don't age well.

No doubt sun, smoking, lifestyle play a role but only if taken to the extreme. I've seen some sun damaged people in clinic and it's pretty horrific looking even without the skin cancer. It's an extreme example but usually due to lots of self tanning, holidaying without precautions, poor genetics predisposing them to their fate.

It depends on your skin type too. If you're pale and light hair, you probably won't tan much so no point even thinking about or bothering. And if you attempt to go over the top tanning, you're more likely to get skin damage and disease as your skin isn't built for it. All the meanwhile not getting a nice healthy glow. Lotions and any gimmicks, as you say too much effort and some of them have sides. I know a pale baldy is not nice but it is what it is. Only people from type 3/4 skin can tan well and maybe a 2.5 plus.

Speaking of ageing, most people end up looking their age or maximum 10 years younger, 15 at an absolute push. I've seen this in a couple of people, one who ironically had a lot of sun exposure and both were women. I know for sure one had excellent family genetics and I presume the other did too. I see a lot of people close up and their DOB and that's my conclusion. Some look 20 years older but that's a different story. You can also look attractive at any age and it's not necessarily about youth, looking younger without looks is not the same selling point.

In your position, shave it off, maybe add some grafts all over and go for the bald shaved look. You don't seem like a guy to wig it so that's out of the window. Dress well, stay in shape and you'll be fine and hopefully some actual treatments one day. I think you had a good head shape from what I remember. People who avoid the sun like the plague have some problems, like those who are extreme and avoid any toxic substance and take it too far, thinking they are making a difference. Waste of life IMO, trapped in that type of mind and not putting yourself out there and chilling. A competition/worry, all in their head only, while everyone is being free, which is how life should be. You don't seem that kind of person at all though to overthink life. Major blessing.

All people I know, just get out there on travels and enjoy the sun, great for mood and that vitamin D for keeping bones healthy. If you have fun in each stage of your life with some obvious lifestyle control, you won't worry much about anything or what happened in the past/will happen in the future. You'll be immersed in the present and the past/future you'll look at in a positive light. Life is short, enjoy adventures and socialising or whatever truly gets you going. There's all kinds of people out there truly immersed in it.

Maybe parts of this were for you Sunchyme and the rest my own general thoughts :)

English pure bred checking in. I can confirm, people age like sh*t over here.

I'm trying to quit alcohol, don't even drink that much anyway but think that will make a big difference to skin long term.

I look less bald somehow with a tan and more handsome. I don't sun tan, just go outside, exercise in the summer and you get more of a glow that way.

And with that said, go get some sun. Don't even bother with the sunscreen sh*t, just don't do more than 20 minutes, it should give you a good tan if you have decent genetics (mostly med blood, as Wolf pointed). If you are a pure UK/Welsh/Nordic, I have bad news for you.
