Getting propecia side effects

Hey.

I've been on propecia for 3 weeks. I was cutting the proscar(5mg) into 4 (1.25mg)as i fond it hard to cut it into 5ths for the first two weeks. Now i can cut it into 5ths(1mg). I'm starting to notice a decreased sex drive and my erections are not as intesnse. I.e it dosent feel like a full erection.

Personaly im not to worried at this stage. I would actually like a decreased sex drive because i do think about it way too much. But the erection thing bothers me a little. I keep trying to tell myself its all in my head and im imagining the symptoms, i dont know 100% if this is the case because it dosent feel like it.

On a different note. The propecia seems to be having a positive impact on my metabolism. I found it really hard to lose weight. Id workout 5 nights a week and watch what i eat and lose little or no weight. Infact i got tested for hypothyrioidism (i get the results later today) But since taking propecia weight has started coming off, id say over 5lbs in 3 weeks and for the last week and 1/2 ive done no exercise due to a chest infection.

Not sure if there is any relations between weight loss and propecia but it seems to be helping me. Too early to comment on how its helping my hair.

but if you have any ideas on the erection thing let me know.

The erection thing... There will allways be periods when its not as intense, and other periods where its extremely intense. Might be lack of sleep, bad food habits... Stress. I think most people usually dont really think about it, but it is that way for everyone.

I think one problem to face when taking finasteride is that sooner or later you will have a period with lower libido and stuff, wich is normal, but suddenly when you are taking medication you might panic as you might not have thought about it before. If you then blame the drug you pretty much have a catch-22, as the drug will then create psykological effects of lower libido no mather if it produced actual sides or not in the first place.
What makes mathers worse is of course the fact that a few % actually get sexual sides so maybe its not perfect to just close your eyes either.

However, as in your case, sudden unexplainable weight-loss is usually not a good thing, even if you wanted to loose weight. Its also probably connected to your erection problems in one way or another. I have never heard of finasterid creating these kind of sides either, so it might be something totally unrelated. Dont want to scare you or anything, as it might be nothing wierd at all, but you should go get yourself checked by a doktor just in case.

I have been on propecia for about a year and a half. Over that period, I did experience some problems maintaining an errection and reaching climax with several partners I had. At the time, I attributed it to lack of sleep, or too much alcohol. Recently, I started dating someone consistently and have had the problem occur several times during sex. That's when I decided to do some research and found that these side effects where related to propecia. I have been off for a little over two weeks and I am still experiencing some issues. Hopefully, they won't last. I don't like worrying about this. Especially in a new relationship. The scary thing is that I've read about a few people who are still experiencing sides after a year.

I think it takes something like 10 days after being off it for it to no longer effect your system, I was taking it for around 11 months before I stopped And It took me about a month and a half before I felt the way I had before propecia But I'd say after about being off it for 3 weeks I noticed a reasonable difference in sex drive etc. Some people say they never recover But I think most of the people that get off it seem to recover in their own time. Of course could all be psychological, I plan on getting baseline tests done and sperm counts before I get back on it, However either way everything did return to normal for me eventually.

You mean you took propecia, had severe sides, stopped, and are going to do it again? :dunno:
