Going to a barber as a diffuse thinner makes me feel like a subhuman

I dread getting my hair cut, they use a harsh top-down light and when that is combined with wet hair and a mirror right in front of me it makes me want to cry. They usually have a few staff, one of them is NW6-7 and I always sit there hoping that I get him.

He wasn't there long, maybe it was realised he's a baldite exposer, or maybe he was fired for being generally **** at his job, or maybe he's off out there at some other place, exposing hairlines there.
Haha.. I like that! "Baldite exposer"!

Does anyone else go to the same barbers, who could have 2 or 3 hairdressers there, and some of them know how to help out your situation and some of them don't? It's ****in roulette.

I go to the same place every time and 2 of them know how to finish off the front and temples decently so it doesn't look completely exposed but also like I'm not growing out the front in a flopping combover, they just do the temples around the same length as the top right/left of my head where the horseshoe is kept slightly longer than the middle which is shorter with a fringe. They probably aren't even "helping me out" that's just how it should be finished off, with consistency along the side.

Sorry that's hard to explain, but it is absolutely imperative there's a little bit left in in the temples, the few centimetres of spikey hair makes a world of difference, I'll try and illustrate it with a guy who has a good head of hair:

Calvin-Harris-2.jpg

Now Calvis Harris probably has hair under that little flick at his temples there, but I don't, and the reason this is so important isn't just because of temples being receded (at age 29 it gets away with being "mature") but because my fringe is thin, from side profile you can see right through it, as long as there's no spike of hair to give that illusion the hairline goes right across (of course it's still visible under harsh lighting but 95% of the time it's fine).

But anyway, this one little bastard kid who was probably like 19, would cut along the side of my head, the horseshoe part, all the same length, just snipping a few centimetres to tidy it up, the whole way from the back forward, and then he'd get to the temple, and it was like his target clump to really rip it out with his thumb and index finger, and CHOMP cut right to the scalp. In an instant I knew it's 2 or 3 weeks of constantly checking out how it's looking in every mirror available, at home, in public.

Once I'm pretty sure the woman owner of the place (who's pretty hot by the way) noticed my facial expression as he did it, maybe I'm not the only one who suffered, because she had her own customer but it looked like she was keeping an eye on him especially when it came to that part, on both sides.

He wasn't there long, maybe it was realised he's a baldite exposer, or maybe he was fired for being generally **** at his job, or maybe he's off out there at some other place, exposing hairlines there.

good story and well told. Ya gotta watch that temple area, if cut right it can look normal, but snip too much and your looking at a few weeks mental recovery. Anyone start to sweat on the forehead when you sense too much is being cut?! I try to keep the facial expression unanimated nonchalant, but can't stop the sweat from accumulating. LOL!

Never go to first choice cutters or any of those tier 4 garbage with the 'local sistah' cutting your bum fluff known as hair.

Always go to a barber that knows you on a routine basis. Develop a relationship, and he will always know what you want, and how you want it. The guy I see knows how to perfectly fade my hair without exposing the strip, and keeping it relatively short. Knows how to style the top and blend it in based on my characteristics. I walk in, and tell him the usual. Done... no anticipation, and doubtful thoughts of them doing it wrong.

I was like most of you guys, hopping around and just pissed off every time I got a cut. Avoid chick barbers, most suck.... give generic cuts. Guys are the best, especially the ones who work, and do professional fading. takes a keen eye.

Before the wig, I was getting my hair cut twice a month at 25.00 a cut + 5.00 tip. 60.00 a month

Not following you here. Why twice a month?
But ya agree go to one guy that knows how to pull it off for your particular mane.

I like to look fresh.

I had a short flat/crew cut

it's more or less because i get my sides around the ear, nape, and neck faded.

after two weeks its to long. I like to my haircut squared off, and look tapered. it's my style.

Plus, I enjoy getting a fresh cut, elevates my mood.

Yes! Im better now that my hairline is recovering but the tingles of tension and frustration used to rush through me. The worst ever was getting my aunt to cut it once in front of other family members, age 19, probably wasn't even that badly thinned or receded at the time, but knowing everyone who's seen me since I was little and now realising I'm losing hair- I was red with embarrassment and nerves. Awful.

If I had the head shape, I would shave it off. But I don't. In addition I have computer scientist body. It will only score with online or blind women.

I'm in the same boat.

I have a large squarish shaped head. No flattering for a buzz. I keep about 1-2 inches on top. Slightly spike the forelock area and cover up my temples with the sides. More of a messy look. Covers my recession well though

I need my hair back ASAP. I miss it so much.

I hate having a buzzed head. I feel so mediocre because it's so ratty and short. not even 1 guard length.

I love to peacock with a hairstyle.

barber comments

I think the worst part is every time I go to a new barber they need to comment on my hair loss. As if I don't ****ing know idiots. Do you really think telling me how much hair I've lost is going to make me want to come back to you?? The stupidity is incredible.
