I've noticed A LOT of dogging on hair pieces on this site. Well, for those of us that spend 30 minutes trying to cover up our hairloss with toppik, etc. does it make much sense when you can probably style your hairpiece in 20 and it looks 10 times better?

Most of you guys boast you can spot a rug from a mile away, right?

Well does this look like one to you?

http://www.hairsite2.com/gallery/fhrjt.htm

I didn't think so. So for those of you that still talk shiet, look at his hair and tell me if it doesn't look better than yours.

if your'e a norwood 1 or 1.5 then you wouldn't understand. But those of us Norwood 2 and greater should appreciate the fact that there are viable alternatives. Why is their so much bashing on hairpieces, they CAN look good, with effort and proper maintenance. their costly? well what don't you think your Nano, folligen, toppik, finasteride, minoxidil, and spironolactone are? what about your nizoral? hey, if it makes your hair look better, saves you time in getting ready, saves you hearthache about worrying about maintaining your regimen, and, most importantly, gives you self confidence, GO FOR IT. screw the haters.

i'm thinking of getting one if my condition doesn't improve.

I wish I could believe that was real, but it looks too good. My brother (4 yrs older, age 26) tried getting a hairpiece. It was probably like this one. Basically, it was like a hairpiece/implant. It wasn't actually grafted in, but it was attached to his head 24/7 and he did live/work/shampoo it just like normal hair. It looked good from about 10 feet+.
Problem was, when you were close to him, something about it just didn't look right. It almost invited you to stare and to investigate further (NOT a good thing). Any girl you were getting intimate w/ would defintely be able to tell it wasn't real. Plus, if you looked at it from the top of his head, it became even more obvious as that you could see the grid of the hair piece.

Plus, since it wasn't exactly real hair, you needed to go to their clinic to get it cut. The $50 haircuts get expensive really quick. This is in addition to the yearly (maybe monthly....can't remember) fee that he was paying.

Bottom line - He had the rug for about a year, at a total cost of about $1500. As a friend to my brother, I recommended that he get rid of it because it was a money pit and it didn't look real enough. My buddies could tell it was fake, and a few joked with him a bit about it. He didn't mind that so much since they knew him for years, but I suggested he get rid of it before he actually get into a really embarrassing situation (like w/ a potential girlfriend).

well, to be honest, i dont know much about hairpieces, but if this is how they can look, i'm down with the look.

But, i hear a lot of ppl say you cant swim, go in convertibles, drive a sportbike, etc... if this is all true, i won't be so happy with it. i don't know how it works, but if it can look like this, not get loose in water, or anytime, and i just have to take it off once a week, i don't mind. some of these farrell clients are very happy. of course, you would ideally want to save your real hair, but this is for those of us where nothing works.

Receding - I would love to see this guy without his hairpiece on.

Im with the others on this one, it does not look like a hair piece, but I've been fooled before.

Shouldn't be too hard for Hairsite to get some pictures proving its a hairpiece eh?

Hairlosstalk:

as good as this hairpiece looks, now that i know its a hairpiece i CAN tell. no i can't tell by looking at it. the color, density, etc. is good. but, i can tell because if you look at how far back his sides are, and how far in front his hair goes. when we lose hair, we lose not only on top and temples but also our sides go back. his sides are back, way back in comparison to where his hair is. you can only tell this from a side view. his front view is unbelievably real. and while i love HairLossTalk.com more than any site, in fact i rarely go to any other sites, i dont' think ppl would lie about it being a hairpiece? anyways, to be honest, as much as i love this site and respect you for all the effort you have put into it, i feel that it really advocates the use of drugs over any othe ralternative. it isn't as balanced as it could be IMHO. This has little to do with you, rather the posters on here seem to be biased towards anything not finasteride or minoxidil. of course those are the only proven treatments, but there are other alternatives for other people. hairpieces may suit some people better than trying to save it, hair transplants, natural remedies, diet control, etc.

I agree wholeheartedly. Be patient though, Im doing this whole thing myself, with a couple helpers, so things take a lot longer than if I had a whole team of hair loss fanatics working away day by day on the site. You are totally correct that its unbalanced, and that is one of the first things we are already working on in the background.

Much good to come, I promise!

thanks. and really thanks for hosting this site. you really do a big favor to many of us. i think most of all the younger people, like 17 and 18 really benefit because they must be thinking they are the only ones in the world at that age that are losing hair. once i knew other 22 year olds were losing hair, i felt a lot better in some respect. for some reason, i can only talk with you guys on here. i don't even talk to my father about it who is bald. i guess my lack of confidence finds comfort in the anonymity of the Internet.

anyways, thanks again.

:?: Just out of idle curiousity, has anyone heard anything good or bad about Apollo or HairClub? They are the only nearby NON surgical hair replacement near me, and I am not in anyway interested in trying pills or the topical route. I want to try this "bio-fusion" thing HairClub just mailed me, but I want REAL hair.... anyone have any info.... the actual websites for these places just SOUND too good to be true.

hey, not from personal experience, but in my research as possible down the road alternatives hair club would be one to avoid. lock in contracts, factory warehouse hair. beware of the big advertisers in this industry! check out farrell and their website...if i ever go this route it will be with them... human hair and the guy seems to actually give a crap what it looks like... imagine that?! like i said do ur own research and make sure to go to a cut-in or see other ppl with them on. cuz on tv, they can make any1 look great..

:( I just want hair at this point.... I am tired of the stares and I would like to enjoy my daughter running her hands through my hair... right now it just makes me think of how very thin I am.
Thanks for the advice:,
big coorporations= misleading
small coorporations= nothing to hide

Thank you.

I've had a hair system contract by a company like farrel and it was quite expensive. You are locked up in contracts with these companies. You can get a natural hairline with any large hair system salon. I finally came across websites which told me how too design my own hair system and keep cost relatively cheap. Just go too yahoo search engines and type in Hair system mail and you'll get a bunch of websites which will show what too do. http://www.wholesalehairpieces.com and http://www.hairbymail.com are my favourites when ordering hair systems. Designing a hair system is the most important and when u visit a company like farrel that's what they do and these hair club salons all buy their system from the same supplier. Im ordering my hair system from the supplier i am saving thousands.
