Hair Shedding And My Analysis Regarding Daily Sheds

So I often wondered and hear alot of people wondering about hair shed....well I thought I'd try and understand it. As the consensus stands everybody sheds 50-100 hairs a day. I used to think this couldn't be true but let's say you have 150,000 hairs on your head. And the average span of telogen is 6 years....so divide that by 6 and you get 25000 hairs replaced a year. Now divide that by 365 days and you come up with 68.5 she'd hairs a day. So 50-100 should be about right give or take how many hairs you have. As long as they're regrowing you shed hairs shouldn't matter. Just my thoughts ... Feel free to chime in if you'd like .

Of course the 50-100 hairs are legit, even more for people with really dense hair such as hispanics or african americans

Exactly....but I feel the 150,000 may be on the high end of density. Maybe 150-200 are extremey dense....and 75000 to 125000 on the lower end. Just thought I'd share because alot of people worry about shedding.

I think it's easier to just go with the fact that 10% of hairs are in anagen phase (I think that's what its called, the phase where the hair is at rest and waiting to fall), so 10% of 150000 is 150

Yeah true .but in average 68 a day is ideal. Some days might be less while some days more. Nothing to concern over thiugh unless your dropping hundreds a day fo months on end ...

I have dense curly hair and have been shedding tons of hair for as long as i can remember without noticing any offset of thinning

I tried couting the hairs on one hair ball straight after detangling my hair in the shower (keep in mind the hairs that fall stay inside the puff untill I detangle my hair since its very very curly), I think it was like 500 hairs which were 7 days worth of shedding

Im not thinning if thats what you’re asking but i did lose my nw0 though

I can send you pics of my hair in pm if you want
I just looked at your threads, honestly think your good. Hairs alot longer than a few years ago and could just make you see more hairs then you would when it was short. Definitely a nw1 at most.

I'm not shedding a high number then, but my problem is my shed hairs disproportionately come from the front forelock and crown, which are areas visibly thinning.

A balding man generally loses 50-60% of their hair before they notice. So losing 60 hairs a day is fine for a woman with a full 150,000 hair on her head, but if that's what you are losing AND have male pattern baldness, then I have some bad news for you.

Yeah your average person might not notice cause not everyone is that obsessed with hair (untill they actually see the thinning in action)

But I always make sure to part my hair and notice the width of the parts, check my crown etc..
