Has your donor scar become larger over the past few weeks?

Thomas, I just had my sutures removed on 11/22. So no, no scar widening.

Bruce I will post you an update, tomorrow.

your scar widened where it was tied off? or is it more red?

In my last procedure it has widened, but I have had 3 hair transplants, the first scar was small, the second one was larger, and the 3rd one seems to be huge.. However, I am having scar revision, not this summer but next summer, after I have my 4th transplant. My Dr. offeres free scar revision. It's funny because when the stitches are in, it seems like the scar is tiny, but when they absorb, my scar tends to stretch.

you may want to let your physician know this. I wonder if there maybe anonther option for you. Maybe not get desolvable sutures, and leave them in for a week longer.

Just a thought.

ok... it's officially the 2 week mark. So, here is a quick update.

Redness is almost gone!! One good thing for me is I always healed quickly. Still have a few scabs. They seem to be sitting pretty well.

Had some original hair shockloss, nothing major yet, and I'm really not expecting any more.

Had some good shedding though. I would guess 80% shed. That's a guess, really hard to say.

A lot of the grafted hairs in the front are sticking it out!! Hope the stay around.

I'll be starting minoxidil 5% tomorrow. I started a week ago, and had a reaction. I think it was a little too soon.

Sutures are long gone!! Removed last Monday! No problems with the donor area either.

So, all in all, everything is going great and on track!!

Here's a 2 week post-op photos.

2 week updates!!

no pain in the donor area. Some area's have a weird sesation, but I think it's just the nerves regrowing.

HairBeThere -

Congratulations on good success so far.

One question - how is it that you can have an open cut in the back of your head that has been sutured shut... but have no pain? Do they have you on a topical anesthetic or something?

most times you have some mild discomfort. My 1st and second hair transplant, I had minor pain in the back for the first few days. Which you would take vikaden to counter act that.

This procedure I really didn't have any. The first few nights of sleeping was uncomfortable, but that was the extent.

As for actual pain, I had none, and nothing was added or given to me, other than Tylenol 500mg, which I didn't take.

I am lucky on the pain free part, it is uncommon to not have pain the first couple of days.

Looking good... it appears that you got your moneys worth with your transplant. I see a big difference from the baseline photo and where you are at now.
