I've always had trouble assessing my situation. Month 6 of finasteride has ended and significant results are not showing yet. Here is an analysis of my situation.

I am 21 yo, currently self assessed NW3v diffusing on top, ultimate fate is like my father: NW6 by late twenties.

Does anyone here have (or had) a similar pattern? If yes, how do did you manage treatment and haircuts?
Hair is purposely messed up in the pic.

Thank you.

You have aggressive male pattern baldness. I think you would benefit from stronger treatments.

On the bright side, your donor is thick.

Do you think adding minoxidil to fina treatment would be a good mid term solution (like 5-7 years)?
I'm thinking about adding it once I hit 1 year of fina which statistically is when things go slowly back to baseline.
Do you have dietary suggestions?

Advanced Norwood 3 and soon to be Norwood 4 if you lose anymore.

I have the same hairline as you but more density everywhere else.

If you stabilise the hair loss then get a hair transplant

It's going into the "just shave it bro" territory. You're only on month 6 of finasteride so things could improve. Probably should add minoxidil if you want some regrowth

I'm in the same boat as you man. My hair loss is very aggressive, diffuse thinning is the absolute worst scenario. I went from a NW1.5 to a NW4a in a matter of 18 months. My hair is a diffuse birds nest looking thing, I bought some clippers so I'm going to shave it off tonight. Not sure if I should bic it or not, probably should since I won't have that buzzed stubble look considering I have like 10 hairs on the top of my head.

A hair transplant is out of the question right now since it's so aggressive. It sucks I have the cash for one it's just I don't know how much further I'll plunge down the Norwood scale, by my predictions I'll be a NW8 in 24 months.

Anyways best of luck to you. You'll need it.

If you go down the bro road please post before / after pics in this thread so that if we are similar I can do it too.

I'm realy afraid of shaving /buzzing, did a buzz once and I lived like @Dante92 for three months straight: people mocked me and girls 'ewww'-ed me.

I've been buzzed before when I was in basic training and various other training where it was required so it's not that bad of a look on me given my facial aesthetics.

Toppik is out of the question, not sprinkling fairy dust on my head.

Damn that's aggressive as f***

I began noticing finasteride gains around 7-8 months, so things could still improve

With how aggressive that is though, I'd be doing more than just finasteride. I'd definitely add minoxidil, and if things aren't looking better at the year mark jump up to dutasteride. Transplant almost definitely in the next 2 years if treatments don't give MASSIVE regrowth and you're relatively confident you won't be NW7 anytime soon

And for now I might consider no guarding that, at least from the way it looks in the picture, not sure any level of combover skills is making that look presentable

I have no dietary suggestions, but it may be worthwhile for you to get some blood tests to see if anything is off, including the sex hormones, iron, vitamin D, B vitamins, magnesium, etc. If something is off, then you can make dietary changes.

You should definitely add minoxidil, nizoral, if you have not already.

There's always the balls to the wall regimen:

dutasteride + RU for anti androgen
minoxidil + penetration enhancers(tretinoin, peppermint oil, dermarolling, etc)
keto shampoo

Minoxidil sucks. With that being said, I think you are at the point where you should throw everything that you can at hair loss. Personally I don't like minoxidil, it's a pain to use and irritates the hell out of my scalp. I do believe a good amount of my regrowth is the result of using it. At this point I am using what I can to to buy as much time as possible.

Man honestly, that finasteride is your only weapon right now is beyond me

You're at the point where you need to be making Hail Mary moves

Aggressive regimen or transplant immediately

you think diet is responsible for baldness? even a little?

i had my hormones tested, totally normal according to the Doctor.

and about girls going "ewww" @Guzam u just reminded me of a shitty event in high school. balding got a lot worse halfway through senior year so i shaved it down. i remember the first day i went to school with the new cut this girl was just f*****g staring at me for like minutes. not in a "omg im wet " way but in a "damn wtf is wrong with this guy" way. and it was this cute girl that i had been scoping lol

f*****g DEPRESSING AND HUMILIATING

this is why i f*****g block out my f*****g memories of going bald in high school. jesus christ i still feel like it wasnt even real. dat dissociation
