If that's true I shouldn't worry that the shedding started the last week of Dec2020 is still increasing. . Started Finasteride on 1/5/21 both topically and 1mg orally. Also, dermarol at times but every time caused the biggest loss. A month ago I started topical Dutasteride which is stronger than Finasteride but use them both. I also have been using home laser treatments. Many days I can see a jump showing more forehead and a line around it never exposed to the sun. If this shedding is good then I wonder where the follicles went? It's been 9 months and I have more of a receding hair than a week ago. I have a full head of hair with the usual spot in the back that is now covered thanks to 15% minoxidil but nothing good is happening for the hairline. This came out of nowhere and visited two Dermatologists who did nothing
Hair lines are difficult to improve and the temples are all but impossible to improve. Temple areas tend to be the only completely bald areas on people under what? Say NW5? So there's no cross-talk apparently and no sort of medium size vellus hair which min and finasteride can usually improve. It could be that the temples are in runaway mode and beyond improvement while the crown is still able to be maintained and possibly improved. What you allege is real and it's hard to tell people what to do in terms of halt/not halt the treatment going on when the hair loss is observed.

Thanks for the reply. Look, I just turned a very young Zeplain playing 72 who expected to be bald by 30. In fact, I checked out Hair Club for men in my twenties. Started minoxidil via a compound pharmacy in the early '70s before FDA approval. I've also been on Saw Palmetto and other supplements that have helped. Excluding the sides and back, I haven't had a haircut for a year and a half and it looks like I did a week ago. I'm studying every day and watching many lectures to see if others have the same problem with Finasteride after so many months. Several well-known doctors and even bloggers claim nothing happened for a year. I could possibly stop the loss with Cortizone shots and PRP but having chronic Hep B for decades makes that dangerous since it could reactivate the virus. I.m caught between a rock and a hard place and the gynaecomastia has gotten so bad that when at a hotel pool a waiter will come over holding a cocktail saying it's from the guy across the pool. Dolly Parton would kill for my secret but it's not funny. The compounding place I've used (15% Minoxidil w/ 1 % finasteride) has started Dudasteride without making claims or instructions, also came out with RU58841. I'm afraid of shining in the dark or just exploding if I used all of this stuff.

I'm trying to learn kanji systematically learning radicals. I use an app called kanji study. The app shows all the components and roots for each kanji. I'm getting the hang of it. I think a big challenge would be compound kanji as I'm focusing on individual kanji blocks now. I try to make custom sets that group kanji by like a common theme ad they all tend to share a similar radical. Like most of the weather related ones contain 雨. So I practice those in a group and learn what the other components are. As for apps I don't use anything for chat. I use like messenger and reddit chats.

I use duolingo to learn sentence structure and some other vocabulary.

Chinese I have not tried yet but if they overlap with Japanese kanji then I guess it wouldn't be a bad idea to try.

As for finasteride / dutasteride, ice been on it for 3.5 months and no real growth either. But I was told it can take a year or two to see results. I'm just going to sit back and wait. I did hear though that dutasteride has a serious shed, but like 99.9% of asians who use it maintain their hair so I think the odds are heavily in your favor. I'm white, the odds are not nearly as good as about 85% of us maintain hair on finasteride.

You could consider adding rogaine once a day. Rogaine is a growth stimulator and with finasteride it can be pretty effective. But it is a pain to manage.
That's very helpful to me, where you distinguish between Asians and others since I have both and Indian from India and someone from China asking about finasteride. In countries where genes overlap like in India with Dravidians, it can be hard to even guesstimate. Thank Goddess when I was younger nobody said anything negative about min or finasteride and I don't recall all of the shedding but we were all less connected back then. It took oral min 40 years to really catch on. Even a year ago, I was hesitant to try it.

The brutally honest answer here is that it's possible your hair loss is too aggressive to stop. If your family history has balding from norwood 2 to norwood 6 in 5 years then finasteride may not be enough. You drop dht levels by 70% but that 30% still causes miniaturization.

And not just family history of that, again plenty of people are likely to suffer from rampant baldness regardless of relatives all having every single hair allotted at birth. You still "lost" in terms of the hair gene lottery. Because again, all whites and semites appear to carry these genes albeit in differing ratios. Some sons are NW7 without a balding relative in sight. My father has still perfect hair in his 80's. So I don't think say a person in Finland can exclude baldness nor Russians nor the Irish even if the worst of it takes place farther south. We also don't know what very tiny deviations in different androgens and reductases and aromatases and so forth cause in differing individuals. In some, just one tiny elevation or decline in any of these might be associated with baldness. In terms of epigenetics, are there things that we do to turn these genes on? I doubt it but we might accelerate or make things worse without any way of crossing back. Duta appears to work for some de-transitioning people from MtF HRT but others say it's an immediate disaster when estrogen levels fall and hair goes into free fall. Similar are extremely bald people who stop microneedling for say eight weeks. Whoosh! It seems in terms of hair flying everywhere like on the set of All in the Family when Rob Reiner got struck. Of course his father, Carl had no hair either and this has to make things a little easier.

I am not sure if answering stay the course questions are something that can be answered in the abstract. And for guys who think duta/finasteride change hormonal levels too much, there's little to no hope currently. I would stay on reductase inhibitors but I never shed on them so, I don't know if any of us can offer much more than shedding associated with treatments known to be effective in a statistical sense should stay the course but if the shed isn't recoverable regardless, you are pushing a string to no effect sadly.

Suzhou, September 8, 2021 - Kintor Pharmaceutical Limited (“Kintor Pharma”, HKEX:9939), a clinical-stage biotechnology company developing innovative small molecule and biological therapeutics, today announced the primary endpoint of phase II clinical trial of pyrilutamide ("KX-826", tincture) in China for the treatment of androgenetic alopecia (Androgenetic Alopecia) was met, which was statistically significant and clinically meaningful.

The phase II clinical trial was a multicenter, randomized, double-blinded, placebo-controlled study to assess the efficacy and safety of KX-826 for the treatment of male Androgenetic Alopecia adults (N=120). The primary endpoint for the trial was the change from baseline in non-vellus target area hair counts (TAHC) at week 24 in comparison with placebo.

The majority of adverse events (AEs) were mild and no serious adverse event (SAE) was reported. KX-826 was well-tolerated and no new safety signals were observed. Detailed data will be released later upon the finalization of the clinical study report. 5mg (0.5%) KX-826 was determined as the dose to be taken into phase III clinical trial in China, which we expect to kick off the work in Q4 2021.

Dr. Youzhi Tong, Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Kintor Pharma, commented, “We are delighted to see the primary endpoint in KX-826’s phase II study for Androgenetic Alopecia was met. Hundreds of millions of people around the world are troubled with Androgenetic Alopecia, accounting for approximately 90% of patients with hair loss. There is an urgent need for a safer and more effective drug to address this problem. We are conducting phase II clinical trial of KX-826 for the treatment of male Androgenetic Alopecia patients in the US and will accelerate the progress of phase III clinical trial of KX-826 for the treatment of male Androgenetic Alopecia patients in China. We also target to conduct phase II clinical trial for female Androgenetic Alopecia patients in China, so as to bring benefits to the people suffering from Androgenetic Alopecia around the globe as soon as possible.”

The following is from a study posted in the US National Library of Medicine. "

One study discovered that dutasteride was approximately three times more potent than finasteride in inhibiting type 2 5AR and 100 times more potent in inhibiting type 1 5AR. After studying the mechanism of action of two drugs, dutasteride was found to be theoretically more effective than finasteride in treating Androgenetic Alopecia.Feb 20, 2019"

I should make clear that I am making the anti-finasteride case but I am not anti-Fina at all. Some people state that we should warn people of potential sides, which I have never had with finasteride or duta or both, the last six years or so.

I have had negative side effects from Finasteride and even my fatigue could be another. I have to decide if having hair is important enough to look like Dolly Parton, if you know what I mean.

Today I read studies regarding Adenosine for hair loss. Do a search for Adenosine hair loss. You'll find impressive studies published in the NIH and many others. It's in a shampoo that is #1 in Korea. It has been studied and said to work in Germany and Japan too. It's used for certain heart problems. I'm not expecting much but I found the Korean shampoo online and purchased it today from Costco. Like I said I don't expect miracles but since I was ready to reorder shampoo anyway, I went with this because of the impressive list of ingredients. I'm not sure if I can mention products here but if you check Costco website, you'll know it because you probably never heard of it. It's Korean and the only shampoo I can find with adenosine in it.

There are many shampoo containing adenosine in China. There are also many shampoos containing Chinese herbal medicine to relieve dermatitis.

But the forehead is sad
Janey will console you everyday because she knows what it's like to look like a boy and it sucks and none of you know it because you all run on T and not E2. T is for burn-outs and eh stalkers. E2 is for nice peaceful thoughts of Janey herself cutting and brushing your air in a style that's all you and all not you. Stay on your meds, my friend and keep a stern upper lip if from Hong Kong or Singapore.

Best,
Janey

Yeah. It was until my wife commenced proceedings to have my alter committed so even with hair, life has its risks. I went to court today as a male and the judge yelled at me and told me to eh, find myself a lawyer and not represent Will or Janey or both because only crazy people have themselves for a lawyer. It's in the manual. There are beautiful gated villages for white females if we can just stay off the streets so you stay away from the Chinese mafia, okay?

Best and hang in there,
Janey

RE :Shedding. My situation is very strange. From the start of my receding hairline the last week of Dec 2020 to this day I find two odd things. One is I can't pull my hair out, or at least not easily since I haven't gone past the "stuck "part to pull with even greater force. The "pull test" has never been performed on me with visits to two different Dermatologist, one being at the UCLA Hair and Scalp Center which was a disaster you can read about on Yelp. The second and oddest thing is despite a rapidly receding hair line where it's calm for a week then overnight a noticeable jump I have not found hair on my pillow, floor, or anywhere except a few in the tub at times. It's a mystery and although this might sound like a joke lately, I wonder if my cat has been eating at least some. That concerns me more due to the drugs on my hair before bedtime. Being a light sleeping I think I wake up just as she attempts to nibble at my hairline. As of today, I've been on Finasteride 35 weeks and 2 days and topical D a month or so. I think the $600 I spent on home Laser (Laserband 82) was a waste but still use it. I'm also back on Peppermint oil added to everything topical that I take including shampoo and condition. Some studies state it's better than Minoxidil but then again there are many studies with many things as good, the same, or better than minoxidil which means Jack unless it works for you. I also notice a major shed everytime I Derma roll the very next day so I do it rarely. Not sure if I ever stated that I get Minoxidil from a compound pharmacy at 15% with 1% Finasteride. There are some great You Tubers I follow who discuss hair loss and the options and studies. My favorite is two Dermatologist out of Australia. You can watch a great 1 1/2 hr lecture by Dr Goh the founder of the UCLA Hair & Scalp Clinic, online, that pretty much says it all about hair loss, various types, and treatments. I tried to make an appointment with her but ended up with an awful person I reported to the clinic who seemed concerned and the Board of Medical Examiners. So, I've been on my own using hours of reading studies, watching videos, and checking in with the You Tube guys for new info. Possibly by next year at least one new drug will be available but it might be overseas only since the FDA is another topic for another time. I would like to add one important point. I don't think I'm suffering from male pattern baldness. It's either Telogen Effluvium or Alopecia Areata. They are both unmanageable for me because Dr's tell me I need to relax to stop Telogen Effluvium but that's easier said then done since I can literally watch the hair line recede within weeks instead of years and feal helpless. I also can see thin spots behind the hairline letting me know where the next recession will move to. "Areata" is tough since I can't take the treatments to keep it at bay a while.
