How to determine if getting gynecomastia?

- Been on finasteride for 1-2 weeks, no sides so far (that I can tell).

- Last night was lying in bed and felt a tiny 'bump' under nipple, started freaking out. The size is probably smaller than a pea. It could have been there before I started finasteride I have no idea (its on both sides, maybe a 'normal' sized gland?). I have read that once you get finasteride induced gyno, it doesn't go away. If I start getting it I will quit immediately, but how do I know if I'm getting it??

- For those that have had it, how long on finasteride until you noticed it?
- Is it always painful? I have no pain/tenderness (expect I think I gave myself some tenderness from pushing on myself too hard trying to find lumps)
- What should I watch out for?

I am pretty skinny (6`2 - 170lbs), my body-fat is not the best but also not bad, I work out every day.

Fat is squishy, glandular tissue feels rubberish.

As for the lump, it could very well get bigger. Keep an eye, and feel for any sensitivity & itch. Seems to be the beggining signs of receptor activity within the nipple /areola region. Eventually leafing to gland tissue around the nipple followed by increase in lump size.

Put your hands over head. The fat will distribute all over while the gland stays in tact

Thanks, Ill try this tonight. Would be a bit weird if I did it at work.

I am trying to determine if I am freaking out over nothing or if this is the start of something I should be concerned about. Does everyone have at least a little glad in there? My nipples are more sensitive now (that's odd to say), but I think its because I've been ****ing with them a bunch since last night (also weird to say)

Would also love to get anyones input who has had gyno before.

- - - Updated - - -

Also, can anyone speak to gyno in relation to other side effects while on finasteride?

That is to say, is it usully seen alongside other side effects, on its own, or no correlation?

Thanks.

aromatization don't we love that, get some letrozole you can get it from any chem website, liquid letro that will get ride of the gyno after that switch to arimidex which is much lighter

've been on finasteride for almost 10 months now, I also only weight at 60Kg (~120lbs). You won't believe what happened with me. Once I started finasteride 10 months ago, I had a significant chest pain for 2 - 3 straight months! Yes, I started to obsess day and night about the appearance of my "chest". Eventually, the pain went completely away and here I am now more convinced than ever that my "a bit bulky" chest was always looking like that from years ago as, when I lift my hands over my head, my chest becomes totally flat. Oh I also did some research and, contrary to many beliefs, even males have the peanut-sized gland behind the nipples, however tiny and undeveloped.

Happy on finasteride so far, NW2 and I only have watery semen as a side effect, that's okay. I never understood the chest discomfort though and why it occurred for 2 to 3 months when I started finasteride.

Indeed, one of the "problems" with finasteride, is that people tend to freak out a lot about any change on their bodies and automatically think it's finasteride causing it.

Man, I was on finasteride for around 15yrs, when I started it I never bothered looking after what finasteride actually was.. It was just a drug for hair loss and it worked. I never experienced any noticeable sides. Maybe I had ball ache, chest pain, who knows? I never paid much attention to it.. But one thing I can tell, now I know all about the potential sides and I'm kind of reluctant to start finasteride again (I'm off for 14 weeks now)..

Don't want to hijack the thread but I agree with you. However, why did you quit finasteride? How old are you? Norwood? Did you maintain?

I just want to know if I'm getting it before its too late or if its all in my head.

If im getting it im 100% quitting finasteride

Lol yeah. Would like to stop before it gets to that point.

I have a tiny bit of soreness/heavyness now, but I think it might be from how much I have been examining/poking/prodding myself.

I def. Have tiny lumps/glands on both sides, but not sure how I was before I started finasteride last week. Going to try to refrain and check again in a few days to see if its changed at all.

=(

man u would know if u had gyno.

all u need to know is what i wrote. From someone who had gyno, and had it surgically removed. The rest of this 'bro science' people write around here is bull****.

I also dabbled with Serms, and AIs

Once ur gyno is full blown itll cost u around 4000-7000 grand to have it removed. I heard in the USA ... insurance doesnt cover it

I know that I will know once I have it, but it seems once you have it you have it for good so I am trying to catch it early if possible..driving myself nuts constantly checking chest, super sensitive to any sensation in the area, ect..

How would I go about getting SERMS? Is my doctor likely to prescribe if I go and get checked for gyno, or is that something people order online?

I think I will quit finasteride if im getting gyno but I dont wanna quit if its all on my head...on the other hand I dont want to stay on finasteride and get bad/permanent gyno..blah

Sucks cuz I have zero other side effects so far and my hair has been feeling better

Could be post pubertal gyno that you just never noticed before.
If finasteride was the cause you wouldn't have just developed a lump overnight.
If your nipples haven't been swollen, sensitive/burning or tingling than it is not finasteride that caused it.

The problem is, if you're skinny fat, or just plain ol fat, or level 9 lardball, it's hard to tell whether or not it's just fat or gynecomastia. I was convinced I had it before, till I lost like 20 pounds and got in great shape (years ago). It was mostly fat.

Possible...No swelling / visible changes to chest yet

I found small glands (I think) on each side, but yeah not sure if they were there before finasteride or not. Initially I didn't have any sensitivity but now I have a tiny bit. I think its possible this is from all the self examination.

How long does pre-gyno (or whatever its called) usually take to turn into something where its for sure gyno?

As for the drugs you can take to kill gyno, are those like a once cycle thing then you dont take them anymore?

Thanks for all your input

Self-examination will defiantly make them more sensitive. Try to limit this.
It depends, everyone is different.
If you're concerned I would probably hop on a SERM (i.e., novadex) and an AI (i.e., Aromasin).
PM me for details, as I can refer you to a reputable source.

Thanks.. I dont have anything like the disk shaped hard mound directly under nipple. I have a little firm pea/grape sized thing deeper in my pec a tiny bit above the nipple on each side. Was not really sensitive to the touch initially but is slightly now cuz I am checking like I have OCD

When I thought I was getting gyno I would examine them like 10 times an hour, they become quite tender and painful.
Like I said, fight the urge to constantly check.
