I don't see what the big deal is. I am fully aware and understand that if my hairloss continues (very likely) I will need follow up hair transplant.
No you'll need 2 or 3 follow up hair transplant's and how do you know that you'll have enough donor left for that? And how do you know that you'll always be in a situation where you can afford to pay for them and take time of work for the healing/recovery stages?

If I need 2 or 3 follow ups, thats fine. If I don't have enough donor hairs or I can't afford it I'll just shave until I do or the technology improves.
:shakehead:

Once you've had a hair transplant shaving may not be an option. If you go with strip you can't b/c you'll have a scar, and even with FUE the white dot scars might be unsightly depending on your surgeon. Plus, you will have very strange looking hair with a perfect hairline and bald spots on top of your head. Also, what do you mean, "I'll just shave until I do"? Donor hairs are limited, you can't grow new ones, and don't count on technology improving. It might, but there are no guarantees and I would say most conservative estimates are hair multiplication wont' be here for another 10 to 20 years.

I'm confident Dr. Umar will talk sense into you, I hear he's ethical and picky with his patients.

Is this section full of people who refuse to get hair transplant or has had bad hair transplant experiences? Or maybe wants a hair transplant but doesn't have the money?

Maybe I'm too early in my hair loss (I'm at NW1 and I'm 27), and plan to have a hair transplant and call it a day. Why would male pattern baldness be a big deal these days when you can just get a hair transplant? Yes I'll be losing more hair 8-10 years down the road, but so what? I'll just get another hair transplant. It doesn't really seem like a big deal at all unless you are poor.
possibly has been said already, but many guys here are 20 and nw3 or more.

If I do end up getting a hair transplant it will be FUE with Dr Umar. I won't be getting strip so I will still have the option to shave. If I have white dots I can live with it, it's not like it's the end of the world having white dots on the back of my head until I can afford another hair transplant. If I exhaust my donor hair at some point, I'll have to wait until the technology improves to the point where they can clone hairs.

I'm not sure why people are so anti-hair transplant on here. I can see if I was going to have it done by a crackpot that my scar me for life, but I'm not. I'm either going to have it done legit or not at all.

Yes, I understand and I guess I'm lucky in that regard. Although I was hoping I didn't get any hairloss until I was in my 40s and didn't care anymore.

We were all hoping to not lose hair until our 40s. BTW I'm not anti hair transplant, I may consider one for myself one day. I'm against a young guy who has minimal hair loss getting a hair transplant.

Going FUE may well be a wise move, since at least it gives you the option of shaving. A lot of people go on about the remaining risk of scarring (which is true, to a point), but IMO these white dots won't be freaking many people out - especially since you're getting it done by a good surgeon.

Bear in mind it is about twice as expensive, though, so make sure you've got the cash.

Also, I expect that you WILL be able to get someone to do FUE for you, but you will also be told you need to jump on finasteride. In my view, if you're willing to take all these risks with hair transplants and whatnot then you'd be silly not to at least give finasteride a try.

I understand and perhaps I wouldn't care as much if I were married already but I am very single and it's cut throat out there. If I can afford it I need all the help I can get.

Basically hair loss is two different disorders.

One for guys who are 40+, married, and aging in all areas.

The other for guys who haven't got their sh*t together yet, and who get this body blow dealt to them when they're supposed to be in their prime.

I can totally sympathize with that situation, dude, and I respect your decision to sort this out. It just seems quite radical to me when you haven't exhausted the finasteride option, particularly since I'm quite confident most surgeons will say they can give you surgery only if you jump on finasteride.

Still, it's your call, and no harm can come from seeing Dr U. I'd like to hear about a visit to him, since so far all I get the impression he's a solid Doctor, but I'm still not 100% certain (as we are with Feller, H&W, etc).

I have heard really bad things about the side effects of Propecia type products. I'm only 27 so I don't want to risk my dick going limp on me.

Bro, I hear you, trust me. I'm almost 26, I"m single and a student, and losing my hair is KILLING me. I could easily go get FUE and have the hair I had when I was 12 and I would love to have it all back. But you have to be conservative and plan for the long term. For now I'm using finasteride and buzzing my hair or using Toppik to mitigate the damage. Maybe in my early 30s if the hair loss hasn't progressed too much I'll consider a hair transplant. We're just looking out for you man, a hair transplant should only be done after exhausting every other option.

It's a risk, but then the majority of people are still fine with it. (I'm not biased on this, by the way, as I'm one of the guys who did get limp dick from it!)

Bear in mind hair transplants are a risk too. There's no guarantee the grafts will take and grow, and there is a possibility of shockloss. There are as many people screwed by hair transplants as screwed by propecia.

Some people have taken finasteride for a decade without noticing the difference. All I'm saying is, if you might be one of those this would be a much simpler solution. And like I said earlier, I suspect hair transplant docs will try and get you on it anyway.
