I think I got burned on fake Finasteride 1mg - Proscalpin

I've been taking generic finasteride, 1mg from Cipla, Finpecia, for a year.

My supply has been running down so I re-ordered from another website (not sure if we're allowed to mention names here). What I received was called Proscalpin.

The pills are significantly larger, and the packaging looks amateurish.

After some suspicions, I did a little taste-test. The Proscalpin tastes vile. Like hairspray in your mouth. The Finpecia tastes fine, sort of sweet with a slightly bitter aftertaste. This jives exactly with a description I read on another forum.

So there you have it. I sent $150 to someone in India who I think ripped me off.

I'm working on re-ordering, this time to get some more Cipla, Fincar 5mg this time.

Be careful out there, this is an expensive mistake. Unfortunately I live in Pennsylvania, one of the medical-lawsuit capitals of the United States, so I'll probably never be able to get a real Proscar prescription, and Propecia is still $75+ a month.

Oh well, I'll keep trying.

Hahaha. You have any pics of these pills and packaging?

I can make that happen. Give me a day because I need to use my wife's smartphone for that.

Ugh. But the good news is I came across that thread about Costco finasteride. I just put in a request for an appointment with a real dermatologist. I can certainly swing at $15/mo for guaranteed real finasteride.

I'm also requesting a refund from the online pharmacy. Not holding my breath on that one.

Yeah dude, I just responded to that thread. Hard to believe, but the price is really that low.

You're basically tasting the fillers. Propecia has no taste and all other ones have some, depending on what fillers they use.

I would love to believe the Proscalpin is real since I dropped $150 on it, but why would they use fillers that taste so much like hairspray? I don't know what to think and don't want.. ahem... loss hair worrying about it.

It almost seems like they threw in some nasty flavors to make people think it's real...

The finpecia tastes a lot better

You can send it for testing but it's really expensive. Recently I found an image of finasteride recrystallized under a microscope - http://micro.magnet.fsu.edu/pharmaceuticals/pages/propecia.html (They also have a bunch of other pharmaceuticals) I tried contacting the site to find out the magnification used but unfortunately no reply. I think if someone has a powerful enough microscope, they should see an image similar to that if the finasteride they're testing is real. but I'm not sure as this is beyond me.

Finasteride has no taste, it's only 1 mg that you wouldn't even be able to pick up. Fillers can have a taste instead.

Cipla is a very reputable drug brand in India. Most of drugs by Cipla enjoy a monopolistic market in India.

Yes Cipla do make Fincar but if you can post the pics of both the tablet & the packing I can confirm if it's the real deal or bunk.
