I want to grow it out one last time....

Damn, hair loss diminishes the choices of your hair style so much. I also wanted to have long hair while I was a teenager, but for some reason I always cut off. I don´t know why I did so, probably to fit into the mainstream. But when I was 21/22 I finally grew it out. To me it looked great and I was really happy with it. The only thing that bothered me was that I didn´t have straight hair but very curly one. Nevertheless I loved it. It also helped to hide my ugliness, see how I looked like:

But then I cut it off for various reasons:
I was suddenly seeing more and more hairs lying on my desk, in the bathroom or on the floor. I thought that it was normal to lose some hair and it was that I just noticed them now because they were longer. So, if I cut it off, I wouldn´t see the fallen hairs. Of course, deep inside I knew that hair loss had started, but I was still in the denial stage. I also blamed my acne partly on my long hair, not sure whether it was true or not. Some guy also told me that I was better looking with short hair and I believed him and finally cut it off. Stupid idea, I look ugly with or without long hair so I want to look cool at least.

I have always regretted this step. Long hair rocks! So, now I have finally decided to grow it out again. I know that I have to do it now because I am losing it so fast and in a few years it will be too late to wear it long. Time is running away. At the moment, it will still look good, though thinner than two years ago of course.

But I am still unsure whether I should actually grow it out. I will have to do an internship soon and I am worried whether firms will hire interns with long hair. Omg, it is all so complicated……

Oh, yeah, having long hair felt really great. You know, one year before I had short hair, was 25 kg heavier and hardly ever left my room playing Computer all day. When the pic was taken I was slim, finally had a haircut I liked and had just moved out to start studying. Then Hairloss set in..... The irony of my life.

10 months on finasteride, hair still getting worse. Switching to dutasteride.

Yes, Screamager, like in many other things I am musically stuck in the early 90s.

If you have enough hair then get the long styles in now..later you won't be able to have the long styles as you lose it.

I'm glad I did the long hair thing as I have to have it short now as the front is all receded and looks bad long.

Then again i've been in bands for 20yrs so long hair always looked good. Hacks me off I can't now and my confidence on stage is waning :(

Get yourself in a band, you have no problem pulling then...

I like this picture. Something deeply pensive lies behind those eyes.

Taug, so you really arent ugly!!! You just look a little bit pasty, nothing abit of sun couldnt fix!

As we've told him many times. For some reason he wants to see himself as ugly. (that way its easy to blame himself and not bother trying to achieve.)

no he doesn't. saf has probably spent more time trying to help taugenichts than anyone on here, and it doesn't seem that it's done any good, but that isn't saf's fault. but he's actually correct.

Like many on here I've previously spent a long time trying to be gently supportive and sympathetic to Taug but after 100's of posts I've got to know how he is and I've realised this way was getting us nowhere. Deep down Taug knows I'm right but he just cant bring himself to act on my advice. I wish he could just take the first few steps to get himself some help to sort out his problems. I hope that someday he will be able to live a normal life as he has so much potential that is just going to waste.

Taug (and IBM) seem to enjoy this "victim mentality". Wallowing in self-pity, not a good state for two adult men. :-x

ya, i always think that too. they just like it, how it is...somehow. and they enjoy posting about it. they like their self-pity.

maybe jayman and saf are right. you really tried much to help them.

now you probably are frustrated and that is why you pull off some nasty comments.

I've got sympathy for anyone who genuinely feels inadequate, who lacks confidence or social skills. I know what it's like to feel anxious & depressed. Been there myself a few moons ago. :( Mild mental/emotional problems are actually pretty damn commonplace, there's no shame in it. It is hard to turn your life around. But you've got to want to do it. If you don't, if you'd rather be a self-pitying victim railing against the injustice of the world and making excuses for your own cowardice, then no-one can help you, and you don't deserve any sympathy.
